Hey,i have the p4 7700i so same boat.. diff processor..
but, i got this machine because i do alot of video editing on the go, so i couldnt lug my pc around, so i needed a mobile replacement, but one that had everything my pc did. I wasnt really planning on taking this thing to class, outside, or using it much without a a power source around.
But to tell you about its weight etc..
Its pretty heavy, but not TOO heavy.... for all thats in this machine, you shouldnt really complain. when on the shoulder, feels no different then a messenger bag with a few books in it. I usually just carry it by the handle on the bag.
I usually dont have to many heat issues... although it could get warm at times, espcially near the PCMIA slot (if you've got anything in there)
Battery life, is no more then an hour. so get used to knowing that its not really a mobile machine.
but if your like me, and need to take your designs from photoshop with you everywhere, and you do digitial media on the go. This thing is perfect. I take it to conventions where i can edit video on the spot, and have it ready the next day. Its really a nice desktop replacement, really happy i went with this set-up.
But just know, if your looking for a machine where you can use it on your lap somewhere without power, this is NOT the one, this isnt like a student notebook where you can easily slide it out of the bag and quietly open it on the desk and take some notes.... I took this out in class one time, and everyone just said "Jesus christ! Are you networked with the NASA space station?" Or even "Hey man, get a bigger screen"
But like i said, if your in need of a desktop replacement, this one is pefect.
