Depends how much you know about computers to the extent that you can take care of them. Just do the obvious, no eating or drinking around them. You don't want any crumbs in your keyboard nor any accidents because carbonated beverages and electronics don't like each other. Be careful with it, try to avoid dropping it or knocking if off your desk.
Other stuff you may want to consider is taking it apart from time to time to clean it up. You can use compressed air on the keyboard if you don't feel comfortable taking it apart. Probably on the HSF too. I like to take mine apart and get the dust out and clean the HSF up so that it gets the optimal air flow. Also I use better thermal paste than what is used in the factory to make sure my CPU stays cooler.
So basically you want to be pro-active about keeping it clean and active with the stuff you really can't control as far as dust, hair, and that goes.
Software wise, it's like any other computer, don't clog up your computer with unnecessary programs. I have friends that click anything and everything and it's a real pain to clean up their systems to get them back to working order from being slow and bogged down. Just be smart about this.
Hope this helps.
