http://www.ati.com/developer/vendorid.html Lists the X1700 mobility as an RV530 part which would basicly be the Desktop X1600 series, it's possible it's only faster clocks (comperable to desktop parts) and fast GDDR3 memory, however ATI orginaly intended a new core that was to be a 24/8 configuration for the X1700 series, compared to 12/4 config for the X1600. It seems that they are scaling back, there was orginaly intended to be a faster core with the GDDR4 on their new flagship that would be built on .8 nm process, somewhere there seem to be problems.
It looks like Nvidia is leaking the existance of GF 7700 Go products as well, though the 14.1" Asus that seems to have them is hindered by very poor battery life, so they are likely a bit warm and a shade on the power hungry side.
