s96J issue - wrong time on powerup

I just got my s96j 5 days ago. It's been running stable, but I did notice that at times the system time apparently stops when the computer is off, so that the time is wrong when I turn the computer on again. Is this a documented issue or have I been shipped a lemon?

Ummmm. Are you connected to the internet and have auto synchronize on? If so, did you check your time zone? I'm guessing that it's something that you're doing wrong since the time feature in windows has absolutely nothing to do with hardware.

The time zone is set correctly and the internet time feature is disabled. The issue still occurs 1 out of 5 times (on average) I boot the unit up.

What's your BIOS version? you can check the version by holding "F2" when first turn on the computer and then go to System Information in the BIOS.

I'm at work right now so I can't check until later. AFAIK it's the pre-Merom BIOS. I'll post again in a few hours' time.

Is this a known issue with pre-0901 BIOS S96J's?

I'm curious as to whether getting a replacement unit will get rid of the problem, or if a BIOS update will fix it.

Just updated the BIOS to 0901, so far so good. I'll give it 5 more cold starts between today and tomorrow and see if the problem recurs.

The old BIOS was 04XX BTW.

No it's not, I was just curious what BIOS version in your laptop, let us know if the new BIOS fix it.
