ooooppsss. I was not clear. i download the 3224 bios from acer webpage and i have the files in a ZIP (or rar?) archive in my desktop. So, i need to install the new 3224 BIOS to support merom. The question is HOW do i install the bios?
do i need to install the 3224 bios before put the merom in my lap? Do you have some instructions to change the CPU, i mean CD to C2D?

where can i get a sheap t7200? THANK YOU STORM PC!!!

Use the program Winflash for that occasion in order to flash the BIOS in Windows.

Yes, as mentioned you will need to update the BIOS before swapping the CPU. There's a guy selling them on eBay. They're hard to get right now because of the demand, so there's no such thing as a cheap Merom.

HELLO STORM!!! thank you for your reply. I have a new dilem with a friend. this is the problem/ In ebay there is a dell c2d t7200, with ati x1400 256 hipermemory 2 gb ram, 120 hd, another one is with nvidia 7300 x 256 and the price range is between 1320 (cheap! reliable?) and 1650 plus shipping. what do you think is better. buy the dell, or buy the acer 5272wlmi-ati x1600 and then upgrade it?. t7200 is $300 in ebay and 2 gb ram... almost $200?

thanks

Depends on what you want to do with it, whether or not you are capable of performing the CPU upgrade properly yourself and whether or not you think you'll need the warranty. You already know what my choice was, and I have no regrets. My 5672 is still running great. Acers are really easy to work on. I think Dells are ok but they are overpriced IMO.

Cheers!

Hello storm. this is a very important question. I dont know wich one is better . the 5672wlmi 2gb ram and x1400 or 5672wlmi 1gb ram ati x1600. (1118 vs 1079 dls) i like to play sometimes. my toshiba m100 with x1400 play oblivion in medium very well, but was wrong with my sony monitor. can i take advantage of the 2 gb ram for further processor upgrade?. does the x1600 give more overall power to the machine? and where did you buy the merom for your lap? thank you!!!

guys, I have a question... I "also" have the Acer 5672, but my specs are different from yours... are u sure u have those specs, or the 5672, or maybe there are different 5672s???
Yes there are different configurations of the 5672, even for different regions
Here are the actives ones at least for the US

AS5672WLMi-120GB
AS5672WLMi-ATI X1600
AS5672WLMi
AS5672WLMi-XPH

Some of us have also upgraded their CPU like myself and StormPC for example which is really easy to do with the 5672

hmm

how much does a new processor cost? say, a centrino core duo 1.8ghz? cuz that's the ONLY thing I'd change in my laptop. 120 gigs are fine, 2gigs in RAM expandable to 4 is cool too, the 512 ati is excellent, and I don't care much about the sound card but it's got a nice spdif out for a 7.1 dolby surround, so... it's really neat haha.

well really GC ram is only good for resolution 1280X600 is 256mg 800X600 128 ect...

FPS, and all that junk depend on core clock, and other things

Well not on mine... the X1600 on the TM8204 has 256MB on the card and 512MB "hypermemory".

How well the hyper memory works kinda depends on 1) how much RAM you have installed, e.g. are you going to miss those 256MB for other things? and 2) how fast the RAM is.

Haven't read any benches on it though. As far as I am concerned it's more of a marketing thing than anything else. I can't imagine the extra 256M taken from memory are going to make a big difference especially considering that they run on very slow main RAM.

The number of apps that runs exclusively on 512MB graphics card memory can probably be counted on one hand (if there is one, even). 512MB cards haven't been around for very long.

I don't think its really worth it to go from Core Duo 1.6 Ghz to 1.8 Ghz. Better to spend the money to upgrade to the next generation, Core 2 Duo

Mine is still running like a bom

Mine is running also like a champ.

BTW Anyone knows where i can get 2x1GB memory for a good price.

So, i'm playing Battlefield 2 on the max settings!! It's perfect!!

My score on 3dMark05 is: 2660. I'm with a new instalation, but i notice my cpu was running on 990mhz, maybe because i didn't installed the Acer software yet.
If i score 3000 in 3dmark05, i'll be very happy =)

Thanks

Check all your settings, drivers, etc. My stock Ferrari 4005 with a gig ram, x700 128 (256 hyper) and single core 2.0ghz cpu just scored 2809 on 3dMark05.
