I need a laptop to hook up my 5.1 speakers to

Hi, I just sold my desktop and I'm looking to buy a laptop that I can hook up my 5.1 speakers to. Are there any laptops that have the three audio jacks like desktops do? If possible, I'd like to spend a thousand dollars or less. Thanks.

You're probably looking at an external card if you really care about sound, I have found most laptops' onboard parts to be sorely lacking in sound quality.

I've got a pcmcia soundblaster audigy ZS2 i've been trying to sell for months! $50 shipped...card was used just a little bit, the surround sound harnes is still sealed and the card has been sitting in its plastic sleave that it came in. PM if interested *compare at around $100 in a retail store.

Sorry Tek, but the fact is, these suckers have been on sale everywhere. Creative's Ebay store, Circuit City, Buy.com, Office Depot, etc.

Thanks for shut'n me down! j/k, if there is a better deal take it! I'm still seeing them for sale around the forums for like $65ish +shipping but maybe those are old.

if your laptop has an optical audio port then you just need a program that can play 5.1 or above. if not, you can buy a card for your pcmia like stated above.

Just make sure your laptop will work with that card. Alot of notebooks dont come with that slot anymore.

qft, if you have an express card slot you are sol, got to get a usb or firewire soundcard which usually require external power, kind of a pita for a laptop.
