no problem feels good that my research can help someone else. Tell us how it goes. If they don't let you bargain for anything good, try to get some pens, hats, mugs, t-shirts, and winter jackets jk jk jk

I just got off the phone from ordering a Dell 6400 from Dell Canada. The most I could get him to take off was $100, the same amount as the coupon I got for a 6400 from that Frenzy crap. It was just enough to make me rationalize the only part I was unsure about, which was the overpriced 100gb 7200 rpm drive upgrade. It's probably not as good a deal as someone in the US could get, but overall I'm satisfied with the price.

15.4 SXGA+ screen
Core Duo 2 2.13 ghx
2 gb ram
100gb 7200rpm HDD
Radeon 256mb X1400
DVD+RW
9 cell battery
Intel PRO/Wireless w/ Bluetooth
$1800 Candian after tax ($1630 US)

been on and off of old for 30 minutes... everyone at dell canada on the customer service lines and on the chat are all outsourced from India, it's quite interesting.

Yes it is. I'm certainly no racist, but I do suck at understanding heavier accents. I must've said "pardon?" like 50 times.

this guy only has a light accent and very good English so I can understand him easily so lucky break for me. im very eager to see if he's actually gonna come back with a decent offer.... he sounded VERY stickler before he put me on hold like there was no way in hell I am getting any discounts... I still haven't found out if they will honour the $200 coupon on the phone, he said he wouldn't but now he said he's looking into it. I know they will on the web, because on web chat today they said "no problem," just quote their sales ID at checkout and I will receive the discount...

I was going to go for the 2.0ghz but for some reason on the 6400 series the 2.13ghz is only 10 dollars more!

Battle With Dell ...

64 minutes, 19 seconds later....

crash and burn!!!!!!!!!

So after being on hold for 40 minutes, the rep came back and said there is no way possible that they could give me the $200 discount. He said that if I order it through web-chat they should take it but that he cannot give it to me over the phone. He repeatedly kept saying over and over that if he gave me the discount, that he would have to pay out of his own pocket. I asked REPEATEDLY to speak to a manager who he insisted would be in meetings for the next 2 hours at least. (Thankfully, they are open for another 6 hours...)

I refused over and over and over to let him hang up on me and despite the fact that he was obviously frustrated, he apologized a whole bunch and kept his composure and said that there was nothing he could do...

I bet he would have snapped if I pushed him a bit more but I kinda felt bad and I don't want to be an arsehole.

Anyway, they took down my phone number and he promised to personally call back in 2 hours when the manager is out of the meeting.

I would just order over the internet but as we discussed the coupon code doesn't work and a representative has to manually enter it...

I would just order with a representative, but now the Dell Canada chat reps are finished for the day (They are finished at 5 PM PST...)

Soooo, I will wait for the call back and see what happens. Otherwise, I will order tomorrow...

The guy made me email a screenshot of the coupon and even though at the end of the call he wouldn't give me his representative ID, I do have his full name... since I emailed it to firstname_lastname@dell.com So, I'm sure he will call me back or risk getting in shit with an angry disgruntled customer like me!!!

Lol, What a disaster... I just want my m1210.

Looks like you're better off ordering with Dell Canada over internet than phone ...

That's a bunch of bullshit they took my $300 1710 coupon over the phone.
keep on calling the same guy over and over again until he caves in.

I gave this guy a lot of shit. I'm expecting the call back at any moment. They're open until midnight my time which gives me another 4 hours. I will call back and give them more trouble if they don't accept it.

When I went onto web chat, I simply copied and pasted the number into the chat and the rep. instantly accepted it and said if I checked out she would apply it to the purchase. I should have just bought it then, but I had a WHOLE bunch of credit card issues... (I paid extra money onto my card but apparently I still can't spend more than my $750 credit limit in a three-day period... total bullshit) So I got another card lined up, but now they won't take it over the phone...

I'll keep you posted.

So jeff, both you and saggyb got those stupid deal-time coupons to work. Why the hell won't it work for me? I will call back and try again with a different person.

Funny thing -- I accidentally called the USA order line (because the Canadian website lists it on every page... ) and they were much more polite. I wish I was ordering from the US. So far I am extremely pissed with Dell Canada...

Well now that I think about it, I deal with the Small Business people. Which may be the difference. I guess it's a benefit of having your own company.

Originally the rep I talked to said the coupon wasn't valid for some reason I didn't really understand, but that was at the start of the call. I set up a system with him and flat out said I was looking for some sort of deal, originally he offered 50 off, and then I mentioned the coupon again and he said he would give me 100 off.
