lol my call was more of a one-hour argument about coupon validity....

i am on another call with another rep who has configured my system and kindly asked for the coupon code.... the other guy flat out said they dont take any coupons... this guy has been totally different so far. we'll see what happens.
Heh, the guy I talked to never even asked for a coupon code.

Unbelievable ...

I just ordered the computer...

You will not believe this...

Rep #1was a complete nightmare, denying the coupon for over an hour before hanging up. Insisting that any application of any coupon would cause him to have to pay for the drop in price out of his own pocket. He even mentioned that he has to provide for his family and that he can't afford to pay $200.00 towards my computer. He was vehemently denying that there was any way possible I could get the discount and absolutely refused despite over... I'd say 25 requests to speak to his manager.

Rep #2 who I reached at the EXACT same phone number, and requested the EXACT same computer, with the EXACT same coupon, under the EXACT same circumstances, practically word for word, had the following conversation:

a) "Hello sir, can I have your computer configuration?"

"I would like to buy an Dell XPS M1210 with a $200 coupon. Here is my configuration: ... "

-- I configured my system

b) "Can I have your account details please, sir?"

-- Took my account details

c) Requested the coupon number (He actually asked me about 5 minutes after I mentioned I had the coupon)

-- I read him the coupon number

d) Then this happened:

"I'm sorry sir, I just ran this through the system. It is valid but only for $150.00 and there's nothing I can do."

"I'd really like the full $200.00 discount that is promised on the website. You can find the advertisement that says the coupon is worth $200.00 at the following URL: http://www.winwithdell.com/freetime/EN/"

"I'm sorry sir, our coupon checking system says that you can only get $150.00 off."

"I'd really like the discount that is clearly marked as $200.00 on your website."

"Okay sir, *laugh*, I will go ahead and apply the full $200.00"

e) I ran the charge on two of my credit cards and he promptly gave me an order number after a total time of about 10 minutes.

Unbelievable.

Absolutely and use both coupons.

There's a $100 off the 1210 plus the $200 FreeTime Frenzy 1210 coupon.

Yes there are 6400 coupons as well in the FreeTime Frenzy. Probably not as much off though.

Core Duo is not Core2 Duo. Allot of people are returning there recent Core Duo systems under the 30 day satisfaction thing. Ordering again and getting the Core 2 Duo.
yeah, i'll wait another few weeks until i return it for maximum mooch time . hahaha......dell.ca's website is horribly incomplete, how come they dont even offer the core 2 duo???? but yet when you go thru the coupon portal, you can choose it standard. Also, has anybody seen a webpage where there is the 7200RPM HDD upgrade??? I can't seem to find it , no matter which way I enter dells place its all just the 5400 ONLY.

So I've figured something out I think is pretty huge of a deal. Right now I have a Intel® Core™ Duo processor T2050 (2MB Cache/1.60GHz/533MHz FSB)
The base model for this starts at $899

whereas if you go in thru the coupon portal....the processor now offered is the :
Intel® Core™ 2 Duo processor T7400 (4MB Cache/2.16GHz/667MHz FSB). base price is just under 1300. Do you think its worth it, given the coupons , i mean i will still have to shell out a few hundred more bucks for the computer , but do you think this processor is a lot MEATIER or BETTER rather i should say??? hmmmm
post #57 of 63
I think its best to order from small business since it is not out sourced and easier to negotiate.
Let me try to understand this thread - if you're in canada you should order from the U.S. because you can get TWO coupons to work AND get a core 2 duo?

I'm on the .ca site right now and the 6400 for sale only has the winwithdell coupon and it's only a core duo.
I spoke too soon. Dell.ca just sent an email advertising the core2duo

you dont have to go through the coupon portal to get the savings. ask them to do it over the phone/internet.

The core 2 duo has been available in canada since exactly 48 hours after it was available in the USA.

if it's not being offered right now, then I guess they ran out of processors or trying to clear stock or something?

I ordered one on august 31st shortly after they became available.
