Lenovo 3000 N100 Wireless Issue

My wife's Lenovo 3000 N100's wireless card stopped working all of the sudden. We bought it about a month ago, and everything worked great. Then, suddenly, yesterday, the laptop was unable to connect to our wireless network. In fact, the laptop can no longer see any wireless network. My laptop, for example, can see our neighbor's wireless. If we use a PCI wireless card from another laptop, it can pickup the connection (and see other connections).

We've tried uninstalling/reinstalling the drivers and re-seating the card. Nothing seems to work. Has anyone else run into this issue? Any hope it can be resolved without having to ask Lenovo for a new card?

Thank you!

Have you checked to make sure that the card is enabled? Go to Start\Control Panel\Network Connections and right click on the Wireless Network Connection. Look to make sure that the card is enabled, if not click and enable it.

Hope this helps!

Yes, it's enabled.

Are you using the Windows Wireless Configuration or The Lenovo wireless configuration? Do the lights on the front indicate that the wireless is indeed on?

I'm using Windows Wireless Config.

I just noticed that the lights on the front indicate the wireless is off. That's very strange. It is enabled in Network Connections. I tried looking in the BIOS, but I couldn't find any antenna control options there ...

Is the Bluetooth light lit? Have you toggled the switch on the front off & on? After doing that did the lights come on? Have you re-formatted/recovered recently? If you did and the wireless switch was not on, the drivers and the necessary software were not re-installed.

Have you tried the "FN + F5" keys? This will allow you to check to see if the wireless is powered on or off. If off press the button to activate.

I had tried the FN+F5 combo with no luck. I had no idea that switch was there! It must have gotten toggled accidentally

Thanks for all the help!

that was too easy, but many fixes are right before your eyes and not seen. I've seen a person throw away a desktop computer because a wall socket wasn't working (the computer wouldn't boot). The computer is sitting right next to me, and works beautifully.
