When is your E1705 Core 2 Duo ship date - Page 7

Dell called me today. They said mine will arrive on Tuesday (it was received by UPS yesterday, Saturday), sometime between 8am to 3pm, and someone needs to be there to sign. Well my mom might not be here so I'm hoping she is, if not then I might not get mine til Wednesday... But anyway, I can only hope I get lucky. (I'm in high school, so I can't exactly be home from 8am to 3pm lol)

I guess the reason is cause right now it's at a UPS place in texas, and then on Monday it will be sent to a UPS place in charlotte, and then on tuesday it will get delivered to me?

After everyone receive their E1705, we should host like an online game or something....for instance, counter strike or whatever....

Sounds Good and remember pls post the bios version in it.
I still can't see dell releasing any bios update what's the hold up.

MoreTorque04: nice setup! One suggestion that might be a little too late is for you to buy 667mhz RAM from newegg... You'd be surprised, it's actually cheaper to go with 1gb from Dell and buy 2x1gb from newegg than to upgrade to Dell's 2gb of no-name 533mhz ram... I would suggest cancelling and getting it, but it's all up to you... Sorry I couldn't have told you earlier!

khmer6: Nope, the T7400 was not worth the extra money to me, plus I don't have the money for it anyway, I'm going right up to the edge of my budget buying my setup the way it is. Again, we won't forget about the bios revision! And thanks for the tip, I'll definitely do that! I want to squeeze every ounce of power from this laptop! It will be faster than anything I have experienced, as I only have an AMD Athlon XP 2.13ghz and I have seen a P4 3ghz with 2gb of ram, I thought that was fast and it made me want one of these Core 2 Duos!

My e1705 is now in Greensboro, NC (and I'm near northern Charlotte) so it will be here tomorrow for sure! I'm still crossing my fingers that my mom will be home to sign for it!!! I really don't want to wait til Wednesday, I want to get this laptop and set it up and have fun. And I think I'll go to newegg tonite to order the Half-Life 2 that I mentioned above, maybe I'll even pay the extra few dollars for them to overnight it to me...

Ok.. Now I am really pissed. My Fedex ship date changed from the 11th to the 14th. I called Fedex and they told me that the have it but it is on a delayed ship date of the 13th. She told me that Dell gets a better shipping deal by packing computers in a trailer, and then on wednesday, overnight ship them. WTF!! I called Dell and they said we are sorry, but too bad. They gave me a $25 credit on my account. Big woop

I guess this is what they call free overnight delivery.

Mine was shipped UPS too... Wonder why yours was Fedex? That sucks.
Maybe Fedex is west and UPS is east??? I'm in NC, east coast, not sure where you are. (except I don't actually live along the coast, but the state is on the coast... or off the coast... you know what i mean!)

I got my dell skin today, from their free skins promotion (http://www.dellskin.com/epromo/dellskin/index.shtml if all you e1705 buyers haven't gotten the email yet!). It is totally huge! I can't wait to see my laptop!!!!

I got the 3D Experience skin. I like it! It has lovely shades of blue and green with the orange in the middle and the 3D pattern in the corner... That tiny picture on the website just doesn't do it justice, and I thought I could see a lady's face in the tiny picture but no lady to be found! I guess that's a good thing, although some people might want a lady's face on their laptop skin. But yeah, it's just a cool design, no shape or form to it - that's how i like it.

But seriously, like... It's big. I definitely just lost all my worries about the laptop being 8 lbs, because if the screen is this big, I don't care how heavy it is. Okay so I wouldn't want to go with something 18 lbs like... say... the XPS M2010! That thing is wayyyyy too big, it's a desktop, not a notebook and certainly not a laptop! It looks good quality too, the skin I mean. And it shipped with a cardboard insert so it didn't come as a crumpled-up ball , so no worries there for anyone who hasn't gotten theirs yet. Anyway, I have yet to see if I will like the plain look better than this skin, but I like the skin by itself so far. Now to see the actual laptop.

One more thing, I sent a request to UPS asking if they could ship at a different time, noon to 4pm, I'll let everyone know whether they honor my request or not... Says it'll take them a business day to respond so hopefully they'll get it tomorrow morning and have time to change the time frame. I'm sure they will probably be able to do this, but if not then my mom might not be here to sign for my laptop and I'll have to wait til Wednesday maybe.

Well it says it shipped and will be delivered on 9/12. I ordered last Thrursday 9/7. Seems like I got overnight without begging to much..LOL.

I found out today that my notebook has been shipped. It should arrive between thursday and monday. UPS is aware of the incorrect suite number and they have corrected it.

I need to learn not to post when I am really pissed.

It just doesnt make sense but thats life I guess. It was going to help me out quite a bit by being here early. Oh well. At least I got $25 out of the deal. Paid for the Bluetooth.

Same thing happened to me w/ FedEx, shipped Sunday "standard overnight" and delivery is now 9/14. I can't be mad, I didn't pay for overnight shipping anyway, but I wonder if they do this to people who actually pay for it? I'd be extremely pissed if that were the case! Thursday can't come quick enough

The funny thing is is that I was going to pay for the overnight shipping but they offered it for free because of another issue I was having. Had I known, I would have paid to have it shipped here on Monday. Live and learn I guess.

Got my tracking #and found out it left Sparks, NV and will arrive Wednesday. tomarrow I may just have to see if I can pick it up tomarrow if it gets in town early enough.

Well they emailed me about this promotion, so I went and typed my stuff and chose the one I wanted and they said it would be delivered. And so here it is. I bought the 4-year CompleteCare, maybe it's only for people that buy that? Or maybe it's just a random thing, I don't know. If I still had access to choose a skin I would screenshot the available ones but I don't... I just have my 3D Experience which I will make you guys wait to see 'til I take pics of my laptop. And my laptop is officially on its way! It left at 5:14am on the truck, so it should definitely be here today... Now the question is, can UPS delay it enough so that it gets here after 11:30? I sure hope so. Maybe I won't be getting my laptop today... My step-dad (who is a from-home businessman) said that the UPS truck usually gets here after noon, but he also said that overnights usually get here early, and he said he thinks Fedex's policy is before 10:30 and UPS's is before noon. So.... Conflicting thoughts and input, I have no idea whether I'll get it today or not - guess that's a good thing, I'm hoping for the best but expecting the worst (instead of being super-excited and then let down). I'm very excited, for myself and for everyone! And nobody commented on the group game thing - should we all get together in a multiplayer game of some sort, maybe CS:S or BF2 or HL2, or something else? I don't have any games right now except cube (http://cube.sf.net) but maybe that would be okay for us to play in? It's a fun game . Oh and I used to play RuneScape, so I've got a lvl 90 or so in it, but that's not great for working together (or against each other) either... And no WoW, I'm not paying a fortune each month. Okay well the school bus comes in like 10 minutes, better get out there.... I'll talk to everyone around 3:30! Good luck on getting your laptops!
