I wish the tracking number was more than just "5:14am - OUT FOR DELIVERY"... Like maybe an actual street name of where the truck is, or something. You'd think with all the GPS and Wide-area internet and everything, they'd be able to set something like that up. Or maybe it would just take too much bandwidth, I don't know.

Anyway I continue to wait...
Its funny isn't it. Its like waiting for Santa when you were a kid.

Well I'm kinda still a kid, at 16, and I still wait for Santa (well, sorta... wait for Christmas morning lol)... But yeah, definitely like that.

hahah you guys sound like me when i was waiting for my rims and suspension for my Lexus. listening to every car that passes by, i even sat outside in my front yard with a 12 pack waiting for the damn truck driver haha. anyways i called this morning and complained how dell gave me the run around with online tech support, and said what the hell takes so long to box. its just putting a notebook in the box. she wouldn't do anything for me but give me 25$ coupon which i do not see, even tho she sent me an email "covering our conversation" but next thing you know, my order status is "shipped: in transit"

Mine is in town and at the UPS depot which is 5 minutes tops from my office. I called the depot direcly and they couldn't pull it off the truck since it is yet to be sorted. Oh well it will be tomarrow. I called UPS to inquire just where it is going and they told me my house address. I guess that the shipping change didn't go through fast enough. My problem is that I have school in the morning and then I have to go back at 11 for class til 3. So I have a four hour window. So more than likely I will have to go to the depot to pick it up.

Well I'm still waiting for the UPS guy, it has been seemingly forever, and I've only been home since 3:00... But anyway, I guess they will be here sometime today (tonight). It still says on delivery, and I haven't done anything where I wouldn't hear the doorbell, so I have definitely not missed it.

Oh well, I just keep waiting. This just means I won't get to spend much time on it tonight. But at least I'm getting it today!

Finally, the boxing ERA is over, now i'm in transit, it's a matter of time i will be getting my laptop......
Still waiting.

You think something's wrong? Or maybe he WAS here this morning, and he didn't leave any slip nor updated the tracking status?

I'm hoping for the best but I'm really getting sick of waiting. I still hear the occasional truck though...

I GOT IT! Just came back upstairs with the box, had to let everyone know before I start opening it!!!

Here goes! I'll talk to you guys later, in a couple hours... I've got some setting up to do . I'll probably check back every once in a while.

I'm literally shaking with excitement lol. TTYL, I'm out.

Oh yeah. Pure hotness.

I decided to deal with Dell's crap, at least for a little while. I think I can ward it off, first with Dell De-Crapifier and then manually. I just wanted to use my computer without re-installing it to get rid of the crapware...

I love the screen! And it's bigger than I thought, but lighter than I thought! I like its size and weight, they seem perfect, especially since this IS a desktop replacement.

I'll check back again later.

Another update... I changed my mind about the Dell crap. I said that while I was going through the Windows XP setup (where I type my name, and stuff like that). Then I get into actual Windows and it turns out Dell put some crappy skin on windows and made fonts bigger and probably increased DPI or something. And then the programs appeared... Yikes!

Anyway, I'm reformatting XP now, following the guide at http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=67545. Then I'll go through the deal with installing drivers, updating windows, installing all my programs, etc. and then I'll be all set to actually DO something with this laptop .

You know, it's just like the mac ad... You guys have seen it right? With the apple guy and the windows guy each in a box, and the windows guy is stretching and stuff getting ready to set up, and the mac guy is like "i think i'll go play games, make movies," i don't remember exactly what he said... And he hops out of the box and walks away. I can't find it on apple.com right now, but if you guys really want to see it I'm sure you can find it.

Oh and I've actually got a question this time. I saw a section of the bios for virtualization, to enable the VM features of the processor, and it defaulted to Disabled. Is there a speed hit to enable that? Or maybe it is disabled for fear of the Blue Pill? I don't know, but I intend to find out because I do want to do some stuff with VMs on this PC...

EDIT: Oh yeah, forgot to mention... As another person said, this BIOS version is in fact A03.
Yep, Bios version A03 on mine as well. Did a little format-c and am loving this system...no dead pixels and LG display for me. RAM is hynix pc2 5300. Enjoy everyone

Yes..... I'm getting mines tomorrow..... To everyone who received their E1705, did you guys really have to sign the package, or did they drop it?
AsianOne how did you get your tracking number? Mine was shipped this morning and i don't even have a tracking number. I think DELL is playing me because I called them just before my status went to shipped about what the f***CK was going on.
Well it looks like I got the Sharp SHP13C1 screen with one dead pixel. It is on the upper left corner of the screen and hard to notice. I tried to see if Dell would replace it and they said one pixel is not enough for a screen replacement. I'm not too worried about it though. As far as getting the Sharp screen instead of the LG who knows. I hear the LG is better but this is a very nice screen. So far I am very happy with it.
The tracking number should be in your Dell Account, just check your ship details, right under order status and order history.....
basically, almost everyone in this thread, are getting the same setup....
nope no tracking number, those fricking bastards at dell are playing me! they want me to think my order has shipped already!
AsianOne: Yes the receiving room in my apt building had to sign for my package, was shipped FedEx.

embpic: Keep trying if you have the patience/care factor to get Dell to replace b/c of the dead pixel. A few weeks back I got a refurb M90 w/ 1 dead pixel and spoke w/ a nice American tech who agreed to do a system exchange. With Merom just out and the madness I've been reading on here about system exchanges, I figured screw it and ordered the E1705. Maybe the exchange worked since it was a refurb, I don't know, but its worth a shot!

Looks like i have a sharp display too: SHP13C1. It's pretty sweet to look at. There is some slight light leakage, but it's only noticeable on a black screen. No dead pixels noticed so far. Anyone else notice that the dvd drive is pretty loud when you're installing stuff from cds?
