Yeah. but think about how much more of a workout the nw8000 will give you. You might be able to save money 2 ways - first by saving $2 K on the notebook itself and then the $50 a month for your membership to your local gym that you don't need because you have to lug around another 1.5 lbs. everyday! Now THAT is sound business advice.

Like I said, I get about 80 city blocks of walking in each day. I don't need any more excercise Good theory though

Best discount you can get is the Employee Purchase Program.

Find someone who works at IBM! I just recieved a T41P (2373-GEU) I paid $2500 for.

Unless they're still charging $2.00 a ride, may I suggest the MTA?

They are still charging $2 a ride, and besides which, if you live in Brooklyn and/or work on the east side of Manhattan, the MTA is much less of benefit

I could concentrate on performance, not looking cool.

But to each his or her own. Good luck with your choices.

Is it just me, or wouldnt it be fun to see a pic of Marquis dragging around his little cart thingy
post #47 of 61
While it would be, little carts bring images of homeless people to my mind...

I have never seen a pic of Marquis, but he keeps talking about his hip problem so I imagine hes an old man. Then... I cant imagine an old man being such a tech enthusiast. Lastly, him lugging his little cart packed with tech stuff all over the place just seems like it would be funny to see. Maybe I just have a strange sense of humor, or maybe its just that I never really liked those little carts, and when I would see someone with them at school I would always think it was somewhat strange.

Why not take the 4,5, and 6 trains? I love those along with A, C, and E, because a lot of these trains are now the high-tech new ones.

Yeah the new traines are cool, although its kind of eery in this day in age when the train is delayed in a tunnel for any length of time and all you hear are recorded messages. As a NY'er you learn to read the voice of the conductor to sense whether or not the delay is normal or not.

But to answer your question, I do take the 4/5 trains, but even in brooklyn you can end up walking 30 blocks per day just getting to the stop, and then just normal walking around during the day adds up.

Hey I'm not complaining though I do feel like it keeps you in shape when things get busy.

Heh, I used to walk to my local Metro-North station (2 miles), take the train to Marble Hill (40mins), take the 1/9 to 168th (10-20mins), then the A/C to 42nd (30mins), and then the E to Roosevelt in Queens (30mins), then the 7 train to flusing (20-30mins). Talk about a long commute! Thankfully I don't do that anymore.

Gee my commute was easy.

Take the F from WSQ to 75th Ave in Forest Hills Queens.

BTW the 6 was made by Fuji Heavy Industries I think. Good old Japanese engineering, sure beats the pants off the N/R.

Actually, if Marquis wasn't homeless why would he need to lug all those stuff with him?

Deltawalker.. that is an insane commute. how often did you do that? and for what exactly?
last summer when I was taking a course in queens.

I could've saved some time by taking the train to grand central. But the train ride during peak hours was then $14. I wasn't going to spend $28 a day on commute.

That's not bad, but my school discount on that model buys it for $2200 (pre-tax). Like I said, crazy discount. PM me if you need details...

Just a few questions about the discounts - does the school discount mean high school? and if yes, how does that work? Also, does the employee purchase program give you a set % off or does it offer you deals on select models? my dad works for ibm but I only see deals off select models. Thanks!

go to the products and services thing and click on it, and themmake sure it doesn't say in stock only in the pull down menu. THen you will have all items available. The school discount is for my college -- I think alumni apply also.
