Hey guys, just found this and thought you's would be interested, I might have to switch from the Acer forum to this one in a couple weeks when this is available

http://www.engadget.com/2006/08/30/a...ptop-reviewed/

"2.0GHz Core 2 Duo T7200 processor, a 14.1-inch, 1,440 by 900 pixel widescreen LCD, a dual-layer DVD+-R/RW drive, 2GB of RAM, 802.11a/b/g, Bluetooth 2.0 (still a rarity in a laptop), a built-in webcam, 100GB hard drive, and a 512MB Nvidia GeForce Go 7700 video card."

Did laptop mag remove it or something? Accidental early posting? Me wanna read review!!!! I personally don't like any of laptop mag's reviews but you pick what you can get. I am thinkint the 7700 is more powerful than a 7600 but less than the 7800-7900, so maybe a desktop 7600gt?

Ya the review link is down currently, I think they they accidently released it early. It seems like a lot of these manufacturers are stealing the announcements of new video cards, like when Toshiba announced their P105 series with the new 7900 GS cards back in March. I can't wait to see benchmarks on this system because I was looking for a new laptop to replace my Acer Ferrari 4005 but I wanted a video card better than the X1600 because it's been out for awhile now. If anyone has finds any other news on this laptop, please post it.

the 7700 still won't be a native DX10 card, right? And any idea of pricing for this model?
I'd theorize that any DirectX 10 vid cards would be given a new series (i.e. x2_00 for ATI or 8_00 for Nvidia)
I wouldn't wait for DX10 right now. Considering that Vista hasn't even come out yet and games that actually make use of the DX10 spec won't be released until maybe a good year or more later after DX10 is released, kind of like how DX9 was.

Hey Chakz, can you look in your history or temporary internet files and paste the review onto here? That is, if you've viewed it and still have the pages cached on your computer.

Wow that looks really good. The low battery life kinda sucks though.

Asus is finally releasing 14" WSXGA models!

does this baby have a 7200 rpm hard drive? it comes with 2 gigs but is it expandable to 4? it would be cool if it were 15.4 and same specs, but whatever....anyone guess when itll be released?

Wish it had some benches of the 7700, I am trying realy hard to hold off long enough to get a laptop with X1700 mobility or better graphics, the X1700 mobility if it's still up to the old spec's ATI released will be a GDDR3 part with a 24/8 config compared to 12/4 for the X1600, Still a 128 bit memory interface, and I wouldnt be shocked if clocks are down a bit on the core, but still it looks like a brute for laptops this size.

Didn't you just say it was scaled back on the other thread?
any idea if there will be a whitebook version? I don't need XP since I run Linux and would rather have the $100 it probably cost to bundle it ;-)
Chances are no. Ensembles don't have whitebooks. Didn't you ask this question somewhere else also?
That looks incredibly tasty. And if it is really 1500 bux then that is definitely gonna be my next laptop!

The laptopreview review is back up, It got 9754 in 3dmark 2k3, I am trying to translate that into a rough 2k5 score, I think it would be around 4300~4700 but that is not 100% the Core 2 Duo cpu may be pushing up the 2k3 score some. it looks like neither the X1700 mobility or the 7700 go are going to be anything to write home about.
will the CPU be upgradeable or is this an all in one package?

If i could i would love to upgrade the CPU to a 2.33ghz core2 duo.
