Question about expansion bays in the IBM T41p

I just bought ordered my T41p today, and I'm wondering if I should consider purchasing the extra hard drive for the UltraSlim expansion bay.

I figured that after I install 99% of my apps, I really won't be needing the CD-ROM, especially since it doesn't burn discs.

Which leads me to wonder, how much weight will adding the 2nd hard drive add?

Also I noticed that the only ThinkPad hard drives I found on IBM's site were a 5400rpm 40GB drive, which would give me a total of 100GB. Is there no way to fit another 60GB 7200rpm drive in that expansion slot? Not that I care about the extra 20Gb, but I do care about the extra rpms...

Also, is there an UltraSlim CD-R/DVD(-/+)R on the horizon?

I was looking at the IBM stuff. The HD thing is just an adapter no?? Just buy a Hitach 60 GB 7200 and put it in the adapter. The hard drive's used for IBMs should be like any others (2.5 inch?? or whatever it is)

Hmm, why didn't I think of that. So the point here is that IBM is only going to sell their drives on their site, not that others won't work?

I guess I should call IBM first to confirm that a second Hitachi will work without trouble but I think you're probably right. Thanks.

Yea could call but I'm pretty sure any hard drive will work for the adapter (of the right type).

Not a bad idea anyway I might get one of those after I get a battery for the slot.
