Advice on Notebook for Business

Hi all,

How are you doing ?

My boss wants to order a new laptop for me. This would be used mainly for business and graphic-intensive applications, including statistical computations involving simulations and mult-tasking.

Currently, I am using an Asus Z63a -- I like it very much and would want something slightly more powerful with 2K - 3K range. Specifically, more powerful processor, core-duo, lots of memory, lots of hard drive space, TV tuner, bluetooth, wireless connectivity, fingerprinting security, more than decent graphic board, and good volume (better than the one on the Z63A), glossy screen, 14" - 15".

Note, I would be using this system mainly in my office, but will be hauling it back and forth home to office and back. Thus, I am thinking of getting a docking station at the office.

However, the university only orders from Dell, IBM, Gateway and Apple. As a result my choices are a bit limited.

What would model or customizations you suggest....I am thinking of the Lenovo T60 model -- would that be ok for my needs?

Regards, Emmanuel

Given your brief description, I see no reason why the T60 wouldn't be fine for what you need. If you're doing graphics intensive work you might want to look into the T60P models. They come with the more powerful FireGL card. However, they do lack a TV tuner. The 14" screen is a matte finish, but a very nice one.
