I want to upgrade my laptop's ram to 2gb. I've heard OCZ from newegg is pretty good. I just don't know which one is compatible to my model. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I tried

HP Partsurfer:

http://www.partsurfer.hp.com/cgi-bin/spi/main

http://www.crucial.com/index.asp

But they weren't very specific and under crucial, I can't find my laptop.

I'm thinking http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820227099 is compatible but not 100% sure.

Since your laptop is new, not many people are going to have a listing.

I would think you want the 667 spec'd ram.

It should be the same ram the dv5000t, dv8000t use. The bus speed is the same Core Duo to Core Duo 2... so it should use the same ram.

(my dv8000t, April, 2006 production) was received with 667 ram.... Core Duo 2.0ghz

Around that time I emailed OCZ, they did not have 667 spec'd ram that was certified /tested with the dv8000t... They may now though.

I'd pull the ram that's IN the machine now, the part number to get the spec'd, the timmings.... and contact OCZ directly.

Thanks, WeAreNotAlone. I asked HP chat if installing ram myself would void the warranty, they said it will not void it. Anyways, I'm thinking about holding off buying the ram since I am not going to game much. I'll probably buy it when it gets cheaper. OCZ is 85 dollars now (I think due to the merom hype). I could buy it now and save time later, or wait until it gets cheaper and get it. I ordered my laptop with 512 ram. I'm going to be using my laptop for word processing, counter-strike, starcraft, and photoshop. Do you think 512 is enough? I'm not playing anything graphic intensive so I hope it won't burn my computer down. Thanks.
