Ok, well just looking for some advice, over the next three years until college, I have exactly $3,289 for computers... and of course, any money I earn from now till then I get to use mainly for that as well, so basically, im wondering how its all gonna work out lol, since these days im going thru a computer just about ever 1- 1 1/2 years, so basically at $1080 a computer.... im not looking at much, i guess maybe i could add a couple hundred to that each year, thru earning money myself.... basically I would love to hear some advice on what to do , btw, im looking more towards desktops since they tend to be cheaper

Just get a E1705 and be happy, powerful like a desktop and can be had for around $1400-1500 with awesome power.

I don't know.. I would buy a pretty nice one at $2000 and upgrade the graphics card

I would go with the e1705. You can probably get a brand new one on ebay for like $1800 with a 7900 GS. Then, in a year or so you could always sell that and buy whatever is the latest on ebay again. I did that going from a 9300 w/7800 GTX to a 9400 w/7900 GTX. It cost me roughly $750 after I sold my 9300 on ebay. At that rate you could probably afford to buy a new computer every year or so and not have to go too far over your budget.

Of course if portability is not an issue, then a core 2 duo desktop would be the way to go in my opinion.

Well, the problem with laptops is that they are generally only 1 step ahead upgradable, The desktop idea is generally what I am going to consider the most, (2000$ base) and then upgrade the mobo and GPU's, my real problem is that the computer market is extremely un predictable :/..... Also, I guess i understated that i will be making at least 1000$ a year to put towards computers, of course trying to reserve as much as possible... anyway keep the responses coming, thanks for the already posted ideas ^_^

EDIT: Also, I would do the resell option but... I havent ever sold a single thing on Ebay, do people buy from people with 0 feedback?

Or you could get a really nice one and get 4 year warranty and complete care and buy insurance for it or something in case it gets stolen....

Edit: I just saw the part about desktops...you can get a pretty good desktop for that much. just get it refurbished or something.

I would say that it is clear that you need to get out more, and get your priorities straight. There are other things in life than playing with a computer, as you may learn soon...

Well, just so you all know, the next comp i am planning to buy will be bought next june/july, I am hoping to get one with DX10 and Conroe/AM 3 socket, so its sorta like dell outlet is out of the question, hmmm trying to sort out want from need is so hard EDIT: I do get out alot, its just that im on my computer alot between gaming, im'ing, and doing homework.... I always find time to hang out with friends.... whether its going to the movies, being with a girlfriend, etc, its just that im really into computer, and paintball lol, so i spend most of my money on those departments
