DC jack repair

Thread Starter
I have got a HP Pavallion laptop and the warranty has expired. The DC jack at the back of the laptop seems to be pushed inside or arced inside. As a result, I am not able to charge the battery at all and the laptop is effectively dead.
Can anybody help me to fix this?

1. lots of nerve
2. "blame noone else" attitude
3. steady fingers
4. take the whole machine apart (hp site is known for having good service guide) -static, static, static ... keeping away from it
5. depending on the jack, either u need to replace the jack board or the jack iself. this would involve un.solder/re.solder the hardware.
6. u can order the jack on internet or ur local pc service shops if u get the part number from the jack itself (google, msn, yahoo .... "laptop ac jack")

cheers ...

thanks for the reply
Any other options apart from ripping my laptop open? I already tried opening it two time, unsuccessfully, and cracked the frame.
Heard that there is a cable which can go into the expansion slot on the laptop and can power up the battery through that circuit. Any idea where I can find more info on how to find this cable?
