I received my laptop on Tuesday August 29th. That same day tropical storm Ernesto was about to show itself in south Florida. I decided to wait until wednesday to spend any serious time on my new rig. Other than checking to make sure all my hardware was in order.
I head over to the local store and pick up a few games on Wednesday. Straight out of the box this machine screamed. I gamed all day Wednesday (no work due to the storm). I spent a few hours thursday after work enjoying this amazing laptop.
Friday night I get home looking forward to the weekend and the hours of gaming. I power on my machine and noticed the LED's on the audio DJ panel are not all lit. Only the hard drive, power (which was green), battery, AC and the Time were being displayed.
I sat there staring at a black LCD realizing I have a problem. I waited about a minute, no display. I powered the laptop off and waited about 2 minutes and repeated the process to find my brand new rig seemed dead. The machine did not POST.
After 3 attempts, the machine booted.
I played Empire at War for a few without a single problem. I shut the machine down, waited a minute, powered it on and no display.
At this point I had to go to sleep, I had some overtime to work. This was very hard as I kept thinking about my CC and this paperweight on my desk.
I wake up Saturday morning expecting the worst, I power on my machine and the same exact issue occured. At this time I got out my warranty number and called Hypersonic hoping someone would get back to me. I was impressed, a Technician contacted me within 15 minutes and I explained the problem to him.
The first suggestion the Technician made was to check the RAM to make sure it was seated properly, followed by all the connectors. Anything after that would require parts as we all know.
After I got home from work it was time to diagnose my brand new laptop. I removed the battery, then the cover and began to inspect, I noticed some fingerprint grease marks as well as some screwdriver scratches on some of the metal surrouding various screws. One thing I need to mention about the keyboard, when I recieved the machine I did notice some fingerprint grease on a few of the keys.
I reseated the RAM and checked all the connectors on my brand new laptop. I powered the machine on and to no surprise the same issue occured.
Anyone have any ideas other than waiting until Tuesday when Hypersonic reopens.
I'm starting to feel I received someone else's returned problem.
Many thanks for taking the time to read this!
