Should I retun My E1505??

I bought an E1505 refurb about 10 days ago. With the C2D out, I just want to make sure I shouldn't return it. I have 21 days to do so per the refurb specs.

For $1029 I got -
2Ghz Duo Core
2MB RAM
X1400 ATI Card
HD Audio
TV Tuner
15.4 Truelife
100 GB 7200RPM HD

Was this still a good deal now that the C2D is out? I could probably stretch my budget to $1500 and all I care about is being able to run Vista with Aero smoothly, music, and web surfing. Maybe light gaming as well, but I am more of a console person.

Do you need the little bit of extra performance from the C2D? Looks like you got a nice machine at a great price. I just purchased a E1505 from the outlet.

Vista with Aero will be mostly dependent on your graphics chip, and I'm not sure how well the X1400 fares, so I can't really comment on this. However either processor will do fine keeping the OS running and allowing you to surf the web and listen to music. I hope you meant 2gb of ram, not 2mb and 2gb will definitely let vista open shop.

One thing that might be worth mentioning, that Dell isn't really promoting much, is the C2D is 64-bit but the Core Duo is just 32-bit. Using the laptop for web surfing, music playing, and light gaming will see no impact between these, but certain uses and programs definitely benefit from the 64-bit. I recomment a google for more information.

And I'm not sure about pricing either, but it is worth mentioning that the C2D is the same price as the Core Duo (in fact, the low-end 1.66ghz C2D is cheaper than its equivalent Core Duo). If you can stand waiting for shipping and all that, and if you can find the same price with the C2D (which you probably can), then I would upgrade. Otherwise, be happy with what you've got. It will certainly allow you to browse, listen, and play.

Yeah, I meant 2 GB of RAM not 2 MB

I love it so I think I will definitely keep it. I just needed the re-assurance. I just hate when new stuff comes out right after making a purchase...

Good decision. I've seen varying statements about this but if your notebook isn't defective, I've seen many reports that Dell charges a 15 percent restocking fee during the 21-day return period. As you get down the road you can always upgrade to a Merom chip should you feel the need.
