I think my mobo is death. On start up i only hear the fan for a sec and then it shuts down. Anyone an idea what this could be?

I asked Acer for e new mobo but it costs $1000 +. So no go. Where can i found a mobo for this laptop much cheaper? On ebay there isn't one for the last few months.

Can i replace this mobo with a mobo from another Acer laptop? I hope i can get this one back to life, because it was one with full options. Only 18 months old.

For a month searching for this mobo. Nothing.

Anyone knwo where i can purchase this motherboard? Or will fit a motherboard from a different Acer?

Nothing to lose

It maybe nothing similar to your own problem but my laptop has developed a problem that it is similar to yours.. The fan starts for a couple of seconds and then stops.. If i press the power button again nothing happens.. If i unplug the power lead and plug it in again it will usually start, but not always sometimes it takes several tries.
Another brand new Acer i had before this one had the same problem of only the fan starting and that was caused by lose memory modules.. That was cured by reinserting them..
Anyway you have nothing to lose by trying them.. good luck...:-)
