Hmm, so you are saying with some people getting a virus has nothing to do with incompetence, but rather such people deliberately install viruses? I had not thought of that one...

The worst virus I had was called "Tchernobyl" or "CIH". This virus became active on 26th of April (the day of Tchernobyl plant explosion). After turning your PC on that day the virus flashed partialy your BIOS. I had to buy new motherboard that time

So IMHO the worst viruses are those, which damage your hardware.

I double clicked and bingo... dos opened and window disappeared.... then I went on the four hour escapade to get rid of it.

VMWARE + Virtual Image (hell, 98SE will work just fine) = oh shit, a virus, let me spend 30 seconds restoring it to a point w/o a virus. Thank god it wasn't on the good machine!

I've not had a spyware or virus drop on my system in years, only time I see them come up is under VMWare, where I'm in a safe environment (and generally expect to see bad shit pop up when doing serials), or scanning other people's hardware.
