Having probs installing usb devices on 7426

My wife has a 7426 (same as mine) and I went to attach my external drive to it. XP beeped but no unit showed. I went to install hardware device and it said "presently installing device only 1 at a time etc..).

Left it for hours, rebooted a few times and never showed the volume in xp even after I assigned it a letter.. Gave up.

Put a flash card in the laptop and same thing.. beep .. nothing.

Tried to install a ext. card reader same thing...


I think all drivers are updated...Device look good with no !!! seen

Is there a specific driver I'm missing?

how about un.installing/re.installing the whole usb controller

Try deleting the USB hubs & minports under the device list. Reboot and the minports will be redetected. You will have to use the show hidden devices under the menu to see the miniports.

There should be a button to "clear USB cache" added to all versions to windows as this always seems to be a problem.
