Fresh Install - Is it Really Necessary?

I have a Travelmate 8204. I uninstalled the Acer Software and it runs better and is getting benchmarks pretty close to what I have seen elsewhere from people who have done fresh installs.

Am I missing something here, or is a fresh install of XP on the 8204 maybe overkill?

Which ACER software did you remove. I know I want Power management and gravisense. Dont know about other software.

Fresh Install - Necessary?

Thanks qhn!
samuderaindia: I disabled all the Acer stuff. I was tempted to keep Gravisense but I haven't re-installed it yet. I wonder just how accurate it is anyway. Never seemed to pick up on obvious movements of the laptop anyway.
