Would a M1710 keyboard just pop right in to a 9300 without any problems? Haha, I just thought, as long as im sticking with this silver/white dell paintjob, I would sort of like my keyboard to match
nope, but you can pop off the keys and swap them. My 1710 has black keys now
That is a lot easier said than done. It's so easy to break those little black plastic bits that form the "platform" that the key rests on. I accidentally popped off the V and F keys once. The V was easy, I fixed it, but the plastic easily snapped on the F.
Pull up gently from the top of the key and they should come off with a pop.
I usually swap the keys around on my laptops to change them over to Dvorak. Saddly on the 1710, the g and h keycaps differ from the rest so I can't move them. I have yet to find a silver sticker set so I've just left them alone and switched the mapping over. Guess if anythng it'll make it impossible for most folks to dink around on my laptop ;p.
I just used a Jewel flatheat screwdriver & lightly applied pressure.be careful, the hinges CAN break...took me a little over an hour to swap the keyboards.
