I need to clean the backside of the keyboard. If there's and easier way than opening the whole machine and removing the keyboard it would be great. But if that is needed, some help would be appreciated especially pictures.

what do u mean by "backside of the keyboard"? it is usually a flat metal piece, dirt does not go thru ur keys to the inside
but
in most (almost all) laptops, the keyboard removal involves:
1- remove the power bezel (can be carefully prying up from behind the lcd and the hinges)
. just for reference: http://emachines.fizi.ca/guides.php?ID=2
2- there underneath the keyboard would be held down by either some screws or clips
cheers ...
