Hi, I've been using it. I've notice using it, when doing benchmarks, such as the 3DMark0_ series, that my benchmarks are higher vs. not using it. .

The Program is pretty slick. You get to set the max of your CPU and control the performance of your HDD. I just noticed when I play games, that sometimes it will studder. Using NHC will fix that problem.

GoHack:

You never mentioned in your benchmarking thread that you were using NHC, and I assume you had it you Max Performance. You should have pointed that out in your thread, as I asked several times if u were using any powermangement software... But now I know. I'll reinstall NHC in an attempt to match your benchmarks. Also, did you have any firewall or anti virus software running in the background while running your benchmarks?

One interesting note about NHC, and other types of these programs. If you set them to Max Performance while on AC power, and then install the program, your CPU will still be locked at max speed. If you change your mind, and want to let windows manage the CPU speed while plugged in, you need to change the NHC settings back to Dynamic Scaling before un installing.

I didn't use NHC or any power management settings in my original posted benchmarks. In my newest ones, I had installed a new HD, a Hitachi 7200 rpm. I installed all the latest drivers that I could find, when I loaded XP. I then did some new benchmarks. Later, I did install NHC, as I noted in my posting, and reran everything. As for setting up the tests, I shut down the anti-virus program, as well as turned off my network card. I also rebooted between tests. Another thing I did was set my video settings to the performance end of the spectrum, as well as shutting some settings off. I noticed that you had your set for Quality, which would be slower. I also did some tweaks in the Registry, which I again noted. Also, as I note above, stating that I have used NHC, I have another laptop that I use it on. .

Which registry tweaks did you do?

http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=60416 I guess it configures the dual core processors to operate better in XP. There's a little improvement, but it might depend on the application. .

The link for downloading NHC says that Microsoft .NET Framework version 2.0 is required for the program to work. How can I check if I have version 2.0?

Goto /Start/Settings/Control Panel/Add or Remove Programs/Currently Installed Programs

If it's not in there, then you don't have it loaded.

I helped the creater make it possible to run the software on P4 m7700's with the H/T technology! (Gave him my computer specs and the error logs, he fixed everything in the next distro.)I found this software before he supported it about a year ago. It is really nice software and I suggest everyone purchase the Pro version, it is cheap and well worth it.

Hey everyone, i just installed this program and i do like it very much. Im thinking about getting the pro, but might wait until a couple of extra features are implemented (unlesss the pro offers them already) and i will buy it.

Ok, take a look at my m5500 desktop:

Full Size Link: Click Here

Also, here is a closeup of my system tray area:

I was hoping that thir program would also offer the option to show the CPU temp and HD temp in the system tray so i could do away with MobileMeter which i still use. At the moment, to check temp on NHC you have to either put your mouse over it in the system tray, or open NHC up.

Does pro offer ore customization? Or is this a feature i need to ask the author to consider? Also, the only icon i can see which is removable is the battery indicator, but i like this so im leaving it on. It would be really nice to get rid of the icon on the right of the battery, i think it shows cpu load. Dont reeally need that displayed.

Anyone please share any information or your thoughts on this. Thanks!

open NHC and click the 'settings' tab. at the bottom click "show advanced NHC settings" there you will find several checkboxes that show which icons will show in the tray...

Thanks for the reply, feel silly now, since it was right in front of me.

All looking sweet now, thank you. Excellent Program!

Has anyone managed to figured out ACPI with NHC? The instructions seem very complicated. I would like to have things like the memory card ready, and wired lan card, instantly de-power when I switch to battery power. (The software included with my ACER does this, and it helps battery life).

PS. If you hit the small "fan" button near the base of your monitor, forcing the fan to lowspeed mode, the cpu speeds drops from 1.00 ghz to 970 mhz (on the 2.0 model). Not sure if that helps any with battery life or not. But a better power management program able to kill the wired-lan card and the memory card reader would definately help.
