Error - No DVD Decoder Detected

Thread Starter
Hi everyone. I've been having another issue with my system for the past several months. When my drives are in the mood to work, I have been unable to play any DVDs on it, since my computer keeps on saying that it cannot find any DVD decoder. The issue remains even after I have reinstalled Windows and installed WinDVD, PowerCinema, SoftDVDMax, and, as a last resort, the InterActual Player.

Does anyone have any advice for what I should do, or what I have been doing wrong?

Hi Jwolves:

Boot to the bios. Are the drives detected there? If not...choose Reset configuration data. Save changes and boot back to the bios. Are they detected now? If not, try reloading optimized defaults. Save and check again. If you are not using the latest bios, you should be. I believe it's 1.07.

If none of that helped... are you using Alcohol or Daemon... try uninstalling them. Sorry those are the only things that come to mind.
