I have an Acer Travelmate 630 (1.80GHz 512M RAM) with an aftermarket battery which I use almost exclusively on power. I'm running fully patched Windows XP SP2.
The PC beeps loudly twice (short) randomly with short or long intervals in between beep sequences. There is nothing in the event log. There are no failed devices in Device Manager (hidden or otherwise) or BIOS messages and I have the latest R01-C0P Phoenix BIOS.
So far the beeping is the only symptom but it's annoying in the office of course!
Does anyone know what the cause may be?

. The problem persists on both the genuine Acer power supply and the Compaq one at work - note they are both made by Lite-On. Therefore it is not the power supply - unless its both!!
