my m5550 core2 duo was shipped on the 13th, and will arrive the 19th!!!! i cant wait till it gets here!!!!!!

Alienware is Torturous

OK, so they decided to torture me over the weekend and leave me in Phase 9 till MONDAY!! THOSE LITTLE RAT BASTARDS!!! I guess it will probably ship on monday, and I'll get it later in the week.

They hate me more because I ordered mine on 8/22 and I'm not even in production yet according to them. So I ring up the Customer Rep, and they don't know why my ordere isn't completed yet.

I actually ordered on July 15th or so... it was delayed until sept, so I had to cancel and reorder at a new address. So I ordered on Aug 23rd (a day after you) and I've been stuck on phase 5 for the last 2 weeks. It doesn't take 2 weeks to insert a cpu, 2 sticks of ram, mxm graphics card and a hard drive. That's basically all there is for a laptop...


Seriously, this is getting very annoying. It's like you have to pester alienware or they won't make your computer. It's as if they can justify putting your order on hold indefinately unless they have a record of you calling a lot and asking them to make it faster.

i first placed my order on 8/26 and a day later they changed the cpu to core 2 duo. so i called and changed my order, and yes it was a bit of a hasslle. i was stuck on phase 3,4 and 5. i gave them till sep/13th i call to find out why i was still in phase 5 and they told me that it had been shipped that day. i was very supprized that they shipped it on time, after reading verything you guyz been going through with them. i guess i'm just one of the lucky ones, although i did call them like everyday. i hope you guys have better luck on monday.

dont go by that phase thing online because it's not on point, when ever i would check my stat it would say phase 4 then i would press refresh and it would go back to phase 3. and when they shipped it out it said phase 5.

i just track my lappy @fedexdotcom and it said "out for delivery", so i called and they said it should be deliverd to me by 7pm tonight!!!!!!

Last night I sent an e-mail to order support asking them if the information on their website was accurate (I was stuck at level 3 for a week.) Low and behold, today it is at level 5.

i think you should always call because it puts pressure on them, i'm sure that they have lost alot of customers and they dont want to loose more.

Phase 10!!

So I suprisingly got the tracking numbers today (sat)! But of course there is nothing in the fedex system yet!!! Which means that they packaged and taged the stuff, but it hasn't left HQ yet!!! So I'm now guessing, pick up first thing Monday morning, and maybe get here Wed at the absolute earliest. Though I am thinking Thursday or Friday. Damn, I can't wait to get this bad boy!!!

Phase 1: 9/6
Phase 3: 9/8
Phase 5: 9/14
Phase 8: 9/14
Phase 9: 9/15
Phase 10: 9/16

I have not heard is there an approximation on the battery life we get with 5550's? That is the only thing i haven't heard alot on. Alienware makes it sound like it lasts 3 hours and some users reviews said an hour and 30 minutes?? Just wondering if anybody can confirm this?

i owned the m5550 for a few days before i returned it... battery life on the duo core 1.66 is aprox. 2 hrs with screen dimmed to like 2-3 bars surfing the net. Hopefully the duo core 2 models with battery control can last 2.5 hrs.

Apparently.. they were out of 256mb ram chips, so they upgraded me from 512 to 1gb. Unfortunately, I already bought 2gb from newegg... so... yeah, I'll have an extra stick from newegg... anyone want? Cheap!
