I had an HP Pavillion Ze115 that had a shorted out main board (the screen and memory, hard disk anf keyboard were in perfect working condition), and bought a Compaq Presario 2170 bottom including palmrest and touch pad on ebay, took off the screen and installed it on the new base, and did the same for internal components and the keyboard. So far it works great. One thing that I do notice though is that the Celeron processor does not throttle (or at least doesn't appear to windows says its always 2.0 ghz), and once the fan comes on it will very rarely (if at all) shut off. Is this normal behavior for a 2170us laptop?
