Ive read a section of the tweak guide and on page 4 it says:
"It is recommended that instead you use the latest ATI Catalysts on all graphics cards, except when using motherboards with onboard (intergrated) video, or certain laptop graphics cards."
Ok, i went to ATI's section called "Notebooks with ATI Graphics" and located the Mobile Catalyst 6.8. Link:https://support.ati.com/ics/support/...e&folderID=293
It does not show ACER as a manufacture is supports. That makes me think Acer adds something to there drivers (probably for there empowering technology). Ive heard someone in these forum having trouble with his Acer's laptop fan after installing Omegas. Makes me wonder.
Now that makes me wonder if Acers Ferrari 5000 driver were made only for that specific laptop.Link:http://www.acerpanam.com/synapse/for...d=3394#results
They have not updated the Acer Aspire 5670/5672 Ati drivers since I purchased the laptop (which was when ATI Catalyst 6.5 drivers were out). They are still the 8.202.00
And the Ferrari's drivers are 8.263.0
Since they have not updated the Acer Apire 5670 section since 3-28-06, I will have to disagree with your first paragraph qhn.
If anyone feels brave or believe ATI' officials work just fine or Omega's are stable enough, please shout out you opinion. I am interested in the mobility 6.8's. I wish Acer told me which ATI driver those Ferrari 5000 drivers are based on. My major concern is the tempurature. I enjoy gaming and the extra performance new driver should give but if installing faulty drivers results in the card pumping out more heat, then I dont believe its worth it. Educate me :-)
Thanks for your reply qhn. Your response as well as the rest of the forum members here and also in Notebookreview.com have given me more insight then any manufacturer support people could. I also appreciate the tweak link. I will read that later. Happy gaming :-)
