m9700 to secondary monitor

Hey, can anybody tell me what I'd need to connect my m9700 to my new LCD tv? Its got a bunch of different inputs, just don't know which ones to use and what to use them with lol. Its got DVI, S-Video, etc etc. I wanna play games on my m9700 with a 27" widescreen monitor sometimes so I think it'd be kickass to hook this sucker up to the TV and set it on my entertainment center while gaming :P

Do I need to do anything to my m9700 (software/hardware wise) to get it to work, I honestly think the tv came with a DVI cable because it fit onto the TV's marked DVI port, and onto the same port on my m9700, I just couldn't see anything when I switched sources....

you will have to press function F3 or F4 or you can mess w/ it in your desktop properties.

if you have aim i can walk you through it...

I think you need to change the advanced settings for the video card to use an external monitor... Not sure how as I don't get mine until FRIDAY! Yay!

There's always google.com if you don't get a timely answer here.

EDIT: The Yangster is on the job...

Nevermind, I was stupid lol, I plugged the cable I got into the wrong port, it only fits the port marked D-Sub or something lol. I'll go pick up a DVI cable tomorrow and give it a shot. Thanks for the responses guys and congrats HH, its been a long strange trip for you on the road to your m9700, hope its everything you expect man cause it sure has been for me

I've been using a trip monitor setup for a while now and I can say I'm quite addicted to the desktop real-estate. When my m9700 arrives I'll be evacuating one monitor from my desk and maintaining the trip setup by attaching two other monitors to the VGA and DVI connectors.

You won't need any additional software as windows already has native support for up to ten monitors with cards like the Matrox Parhelia. Your m9700 is perfect for this as it already has a monitor of its own as well as two additional headers. I would just connect your screen to the DVI on the lappy with a DVI-DVI bridge as suggested by Yang. In my experience using multiple monitors with laptops, including arima, you should be able to just connect the monitor to the header and it will activate. At the very most you will need to load your display control panel (Control Panel > Display Properties > Settings Tab > Select the big blue monitor [2] and hit extend my desktop onto this monitor. The most important thing to remember when using multiple monitors is to have your monitor you want to game on set as the default monitor. You can load your task bar completely independent of this which is cool because you can just keep email, and AIM up on the other one while you play (Don't worry, most games have cursor confinment subs so that you can't creep your mouse off the edge of the game screen).

I would also recommend looking at a piece of software called UltraMon. It's loaded with features, great for people using multiple monitors.

I guess this makes me a nerd doesn't it?
