Objective help please.

Dell with the coupon, $2068. Core 2 duo 2ghz, 2gigs ram at 533, 120 gig harddrive, nvidia 7900 gs card, 4 year complete care warranty.

Toshiba $2500 with 4 year systemguard. 2 ghz core duo, 2gigs 667 ram, 200 gig hard drive 7900 gs card.

I know the toshiba is more expensive, but is it because better parts are being used? Is it a better product?

Thanks in advance for your help

well..with 4 year complete care you dont have to worry about what kind of parts are in there.

If you've actually went to your local best buy and tried it out, you will find that most of Toshiba's budget silver/black laptops have really poor build quality where just resting your palm on the palm rests will push down on the plastic slightly. I was playing with a P series specifically last time I went and I can definitely say you don't want something so malleable. The Dell's are rather sturdy, even if it is plastic. It is thick and kind of blocky, with little flex unless you purposely push onto it.

I have a P105-S9312 and I have none of the problems you are talking about but I notice that you are talking about their budget line. The S9312 is far from the budget line. I was at the same crossing as the OP but after some indesiveness I finally decided on the P105 and I am completely satisfied with it. I have never had much love for Dell as I have had to work on too many of their products to count.
