This is my first post but I've been reading the forum for a little over a month now and I just received my m3450 Friday so I added myself to the map, I'm at school in Idaho! And glad to be part of the forum...I upgraded my memory to 2gb of kingston memory that I bought from buy.com and took pictures so hopefully I can put together a little web page with the details.

Mine arrived on Wed. and got an RMA number that same night . The sound would not work properly. On first boot, the welcome to Windows sound played nice and loud, but after that...Volume full blast and driver equalizer maxed out, if you put your ear on the speakers while playing a cd/mp3/dvd on full blast, you MIGHT just hear something...When wearing headphones with everything full blast you can hear it just slightly better, but its literally so low that its like a whisper across the room. I booted into a live distro of linux to see if it was a Windows issue, linux did the same thing. I reformated and reinstalled twice, once with the drivers on the cd, and once with newer drivers. No change. I mailed it back to alienware at their cost and it arrived the next day, which is nice. They are replacing the mobo :/. I should have it back by Wed. If I still have the problem...I guess I'll return it and get a macbook .

I got mine in yesterday. Didn't get to play with it until today and I love this thing. I'm not having any problems with sound. It's a little quieter than my Dell but, not so low that it bothers me. Hope everything works out for you fluidity.
