I ordered mine on 30. august. after 8 days of waiting I decided to write a mail to the boss of the dell-hotline-bitch.
The same day(yesterday) my NB was build and at 11:55pm at night they gave it to UPS.

Just spoke to Dell, and was told the processors are on "back order"..
How can that be, when I ordered it the very first hour it went live?
In any case they offered me a $50 coupon, which I'll gladly take.
It was pushed back from 9/13 to 9/21.

I'd advise anyone to call and see what they say..

Argh.

yes I ordered a T7200 NB

yesterday a new version of the wlan card für c2d was released. All NBs with the normal wlan card won't be build, because of an internal error.
Just phone dell and ask.

Hmmm,

I ordered an M1210 on the 28th.
On the 3rd, I contacted customer support online to see when it would move from pre-production status and they assured me it would be in production within 48-72 hours.

So today, its still in pre-production, I saw this thread and decided to give dell a call. First woman I spoke with told me there was a problem with my dell credit(said i wasn't approved even when I tried explaining that I have my Dell Preferred Account Card in my hand), and I had to speak with Dell Financial Services. So I was forwarded to Dell Financial Services, was told there was nothing wrong with my DPAccount, and everything was fine on their end.

So I call Dell back after this, talked to customer support, and after being on hold for a while, I was told that they were completely confident that it would ship on the 13th and that they would upgrade my shipping to receive it on the 14th. So this doesn't exactly mix with everyones comments, so if they're wrong... /sigh

and yes, it was a Intel® Core™ 2 Duo Processor T7200 (2GHz/667MHz/4MB)

just called at 3:40 EST and after asking them what the deal was and explaining I really need my system ASAP, they told me they are taking $100 off my system price and also upgrading me to next day shipping for when it is ready. I asked if they would moveit out of preproduction status and build it finally and he told me he would let them know to put a rush on the system and if all the parts for it are in stock that it should be no problem and hopefully I will see it by the end of next week. Not bad for a 10 minute phonecall. I ordered mine around the same time as you guys did on 8/30 and it has been sitting there in pre production status ever since.

ah well hopefully I see my xps soon I am overly anxious about it

Guess again. I ordered mine August 31st and it is still in pre-production. I haven't had an estimated ship date quote either! Think if I call they'll give me $100 off too?
