Vista experience on D520

For all those who are doubting if they can run Vista on a "simple" graphic card: I've just installed Vista RC1 on my wife's brand new D520 (WXGA+, 1.66 Core Duo, standard Intel 945 graphics card, 1 Gb RAM), and it works great !
Aero isn't enabled by default, but you can simply select it, and once you do, it works great ! All Aero features enabled, very fast response (I would even dare to say that it works quicker than XP Prof).
It works that great that I've already purchased a D820 for myself. Can't stand the fact that my wife's PC is faster than mine

what do you think of the d520 in general? i'll be in the market for a new laptop for my wife later in the year and i was looking at this. i also have a d820 and it works great for me. we like the hp d2000t but it costs too much for the same configuration options.

Very happy with it. I've also checked out the HP series, but finally decided for the D520. Very solid machine, stays pretty cool under stress, and even I've only configured it with the low end 1.6 Dual Core and only 1 gig ram, it's still very fast, both under XP and Vista. I did upgrade to a 7200 rpm disk.
Let me know if you need more info !

in comparison to the d820: how does it compare in solidness of the build and keyboard feel? screen brightness, etc.

thanks!

I've got both a D620 and a D820 and I've got to say, the D820 seems to be more solid (especially the keyboard). As far as feature set, they are pretty similar. And if size is an issue, the D620 is much easier to transport. The D820 is OK for in town travel, but I wouldn't want to take it on a trip. That was my reason for getting both. D820 was basically my intown, office laptop (with a docking station) and the D620 was my travel laptop.

I used Beyond Compare to keep them synch'd.

I just noticed he said D520... opps. Sorry for the mixed posting. Hope this info is helpful.

one thing i did notice with my D620 is that they have two different keyboards they are putting in the laptop. My first D620 has GREAT keyboard, they sent me a replacement because of another issue and the one they sent me was shit, it wasnt firm at all real clicky keys drove me nuts.

My D520 is still in preproduction (due 15/9, although that would really surprise me, since it's a Merom. As soon as I've received it, I'll post a comparison between both.
