Hello guys,

it doenst work. as simple as that. It always detect the laptop in plugged mode even if I'm using batteries, hence, it always run in high performance wasting battery time!

I've tried all sort of drivers:
omegadrivers .5.22 (?)
latest catlyst modded with motools1.7
original latest ati dells

I've also the latest 9600 bios (came out in mid feb).

any suggestion?
does it happen to you as well?
thanks
Luca

I had a similar problem with the powerplay settings, my settings would never save, every time I restarted or turned off my computer and went back it would be reset back to the regular settings.

I think I had a similar problem with the dell's ati drivers too.
I've checked again and it says powerplay inactive. (It should be active in battery mode). For some reason it doesn't detect it.

Ati catalyst 4.2 modded with modtools 1.7
latest ati radeon9600 bios
latest i8600 bios

any idea?

anybody with a working powerplay?

cheers
Luca

ok so it's not a faulty unit then!
look at the bright side: better having it stuck to high performance than to balanced, isn't it?

what drivers are u using starsheep?
I have same specs as u except the 80gb hd.
did u upgrade to the latest ati9600 bios?

Sorry it took so long Yes I am using dells drivers.

I am using the DNA drivers based on the latest Cat 4.2 and also no powerplay.
That is maybe why my laptop only runs for 2,5 hours on battery

did you installed the omegadrivers on top of the dell's drivers or uninstalled them first?

I've just realized how to make it worrking but it only works with the ati dell's.
It still doesn't work with aticatalyst4.2 modded with modtools1.7 .

by the way what's wrong with a 3dmark2003 of 2779? it's great.

well, i followed the omega readme and uninstalled ATI Control Panel, rebooted then installed the omega

from the readme

1- If you have the normal ATI drivers, uninstall the ATI Control Panel BEFORE
upgrading to these drivers, the drivers already have the CP integrated
and another CP may cause conflicts or other problems.

2- There is no need to uninstall ANY previous drivers (ATI or OMEGA) when
installing these, they will override any previous settings.
