| How did you get a coupon on the m1210? thanks |
Well, this only works if you are ordering from Dell Canada because Dell USA has a totally different coupon system. Also, this is basically the best discount you can get from Dell Canada (unless you work for Dell or you have some special hook-up. Also, I've heard that whining on the phone can get you free accessories and stuff but this didn't work for me although I tried, lol) Anyway, basically do this: Call in on the phone and get your order set up. (The coupon won't work via internet unless you talk to someone in the internet chat. Then you can enter in the coupon to the chat and the Dell sales person will give you their sales ID and then you can enter the ID when you checkout and get the discount) Go to "Deal Time Frenzy" which is this ridiculous discount website for Dell Canada.
http://www.winwithdell.com/freetime/EN/ Register then get to the page that lists the notebooks. Different notebooks get different discounts. Copy the coupon number and take a screenshot of the page just in case. (They made me email this screenshot to them for some weird reason.) They will give you a direct link to a bunch of really really crappy deals and they will only let you use the coupon when you check out if you pick one of their crappy deals. These deals suck!! No free upgrades, and the base prices are jacked up 20% for no reason. You get minimum specs for everything. Then you think you're getting a good deal cuz you're entering a coupon but you aren't... because it would take $200 in upgrades to make the computer as decent as the ones they have on special with free upgrades!! This is why you either configure your computer getting the best free upgrades you can find over the phone or on the internet, then you tell the sales rep that you want the coupon applied to your configuration. My first sales rep refused to apply coupon even though I said there is no way I'm buying the computer without the coupon. In that case hang up and call back and another rep will do it for you. I've heard of at least 4 or 5 people who have done this. You can get a $200 discount on the M1210. The discount works before tax so you save on tax as well. It also works on top of any free upgrades you get so you can get pretty good deals. Good luck, Thanks to ding-dong for teaching me how to do this
