Has this happened to anybody else?

Has this happened to anybody else? I got a Hypersonic Aviator EX7 a little less than a year ago, November 14 2005, just before a month's use it broke. I was told that it might be the hard drive so I got a new one sent in and replaced it, but it didn't fix the problem. I was told it was something on the motherboard so I sent it in for repairs, and I got it about a month later o_O? I believe it was December 13th or 14th 2005.

It worked fine, although I noticed that there were some noticeable scratches on parts of the case and the infrared transciever's cover was gone. I didn't want to make a big deal out of that so I let it slide. A week ago (August 30th) the laptop broke again, with the same symptoms as last time. I call about it and I send it in for repairs again. I got it today, September 7th, turned it on and it doesn't work! On top of that, the plug for the headphones on it doesn't work right, and the F12 key is broken off on one side so that it lifts up like a car's trunk!

This is too much, any ideas anybody?

This does seem a bit odd, have you contacted support?

I just hung up with tech support and I was told that I would have to send the system in once more and that everything would be looked at because they don't understand how the computer could have been sent back unrepaired and damaged. I'm honestly crossing my fingers so that it's actually fixed this time.

Since this is very strange, we would need to take a look at the unit to see what the problems are.

I've been reading horror stories about people and Hypersonic. I will for now stay positive although I must admit that I cannot be totally positive considering all that's happened.

I was told that I was going to have the mail labels sent to me for UPS overnight so that I could have my system as soon as possible and for this I am thankful because maybe now everything will work out fine. I has taken way longer than they said it would for me to get the labels, but as long as I get them tonight I really don't mind.

I will keep updating here to let those interested how things turned out.

Well I didn't get the labels and I cannot call Hypersonic because they are not open on weekends. I will have to wait until Monday to be able to call them and see what they tell me then...!

Well I also have an EX7 and am disapointed with its gaming abilities in games Likes COD2....durring intense battles it gets real choppy...I played the new Hit Man on it with no problems but Hit Man is not a ..well what I call a acyion packed game....

Anyway...I dont see myself buying another Hypersonic and am waiting for Vista to be released..patched several times..and bugs worked out ...then I will buy another laptop for gaming....

Ok to get back to the subject.....I have had good experiance with non Hypersonic tech support ....but the tech support that you get durring their business hours...well is way below par.....its been over 3 months an I am still waiting for them to call me back on one of the issues I have had with it while running on batteries......I have realy just givin up and wrote Hypersonic off my list of computer companies to do business with...I havent updated my review on resellers yet because I have been in and out of the hospital with heart problems....but I will update it...all I can say is for the money...my EX7 wasnt worth .......I think I will stay away from boutique computer companies from now onMy wifes toshiba..QosmioG-25 I bought her last christams is a great machine with more options and over a grand less in price..I am impressed with it......now toshiba has a gaming machine that I will check out ....price is right...options are great...the good thing is I can go to a local Comp-USA and try it out first........no more ordering something I cant try first...
good luck to you and keep us infromed.......

I can't really say that I've been dissapointed with the gaming capabilities of the computer, although I haven't tried Call of Duty at all since I got completely consumed with Battlefield 2.

I don't know if I'll get another Hypersonic, it depends on how my experience goes. I must say that I'm a bit dissapointed in not receiving the labels because I am not home at the moment and will not be there until the 19th. Of course, this has nothing to do with Hypersonic but had I had the labels the lappy would be on its way to them already.

I do know that I am also waiting for Windows Vista to come out before I get another gaming rig, and I am planning on getting a desktop then because I think laptops have become too powerful for their own good. I think heat is killing them. That and I want to get a desktop with quad nVidias (insert evil laugh here).

The non-Hypersonic tech support has also been good, I can't complain about them. I will be sure to let you guys know what's happening with my unit.

It sucks to know you're having heart problems, I wish you the best of luck with that.

As I sit here waiting and waiting and waiting for tech support from Hypersonic to call me back I was looking through the site and wondering just how much of a hassle it might be to try and get my MV6 finally working correctly. Started out early this summer working with the sales people on a unit for my needs. I had been using a GX7 for work which I LOVED (never had any problems) but changed jobs and didn't want to have something that heavy for home. Did finally get the unit in 6 days before I needed to use it for a big meeting. Wouldn't charge / power up / etc. - arrived DOA. They did email an overnight label and I sent it back first thing the next morning. Received the unit back with a very rapid turnaround. When I asked how they were able to determine and repair the problem so quickly, was told they just built a new one and sent it out but it was in the old case, etc. Fortunately I knew how to lock the keyboard in place since one side was not attached. (If you do much typing, I recommend getting an external keyboard. While typing this message, the cursor has jumped away 4 times so far.)

Latest issue is that when it was returned, the internal bluetooth card wasn't there. After spending much valuable time online with the tech support folks they told me the card wasn't there...and sent me one to install. We've done this and guess what - it doesn't work, show up, initialize, or anything and the tech support person who was supposed to call back in an hour is still unheard from again. Have had the unit just about a month and haven't been able to use it for what I need for about 1/2 of that time - hope this isn't the pattern for the future.

Have asked at least a half dozen times for the manual for this unit and even tried to download it from their website but it isn't available there either.

I went for every option since I knew this unit was going to have to last and last but feel like I paid for a Lexus and am getting Yugo quality item and service.

If I was you I would build your own Desktop.......there is nothing to it...jus do research and be sure all hardware is compatable.....I am looking at the Intel 975 chipsets for my next built desktop...you can save a thousand or more if you build it yourself.....plus you get better warranties from each hardware maker than you get from say Dell...Hypersonic..or anyone else

Things are looking up

While the idea of a high power desktop was on our list of possibilites, we went with the Aviator MV6 notebook since I need a computer in about 3 different settings and wanted something lighter to tote than the GX7 I had in my previous job. We have been able to get the chip that Hypersonic got to us to work and looks like the issue is resolved. Didn't mean to seem "snitty" in previous post but on a teacher's salary $3000+ is a LOT of money. Guess I was also spoiled with the GX7. I have to remember that this isn't supposed to be DTR. Alex and Pat at Hypersonic have been patient with my frustration and hopefully the computer will be the wonderful and amazing unit in the future that they assured me it can be.

I was actualy planning on building my own desktop but I know very little about doing that so I will probably get help from a friend if I actually go ahead and do that.

I just hung up with Hypersonic tech support and I was able to receive the shipping labels so that I can send my system in. I will eb sure to keep you updated as to the progress of my case.

current status on MV6

Just wanted to give you info on current status. Received the part from Hypersonic and put it in ourselves - VERY easy install. Just like on the GX7, we love the fact that virtually all of the parts are user upgradable. It did take several days and some doing to figure out the software issues but made my first bluetooth connection to the unit the other night. I'll keep you posted as to how it holds up.

I just thought I'd make a few points. First off, these aren't entry level machines so they do require maintenance. They are very high performance machines that need frequent tuning.

Next, Complaining that you don't get the framerates you expected is silly, everyone agrees that these machines perform as they should according to their specs. If you bought it under spec'd then that's your fault.

If you just want a machine that requires virtually no maintenance and effort then get a macbook. That's designed specifically for you.

As far as the support issues go, there's no excuse for getting back poorly serviced hardware. Hyper needs to work alot harder at being organized if that's the case. I had very good results with hyper support.
