Yep, should be in the low 6000's. I ran a single card during my overclocking by accident and saw 7300... I'll run the single again at stock settings tomorrow to give you a better score.

Not sure about battery life yet. I used it for about an hour and a half tonight on battery wandering around my property checking out wireless hotspots and it didn't warn me in that time that I was running low. Just had the net up and running though, no gaming. There are three homes within my range that have unprotected wireless networks so I was able to connect easily through their signals...

If you're smart enough to order an m9700 I'm sure you'll do fine on the exams... Hope your mate doesn't decide to keep it himself... lol...

lol yeah he better not keep it...but yeah i've finished the bulk of my exams and almost party time! I like bought this thing off the alienware US site and like 3 days later it was on the alienware AU site. But get this its like over a grand more on the AU site... rediculous!, so i guess i ended up making a good decision by buying it overseas and saving a grand, and also benifiting from alienwares back to school deals

Good deal...

What's it going to cost to have your buddy ship it from the states?
lol for him to worry about not me ...it was my birthday about a month ago so he said he'd be more than happy to pay for the shipping costs inc. insurance etc.

Hi Shifteee, welcome to the forums...

I ordered my m9700 with MCE because I wanted the tv tuner so I could record motoGP and Formula 1 races and burn them to disc. Everything runs the same as regular XP when not dealing with the media center stuff. It lets you organize pics, movies and mp3's conveniently, and there's the tv tuner with tivo type functions.

I don't see much difference between the two other than the extra stuff in MCE. Networks fine.

If you want the tv tuner, you'll have to get MCE, otherwise Home should do just fine. XP pro has some additional functionality but mostly for corporate network environments.

The only reason you would want Media Center would be for the TV Tuner, sure the extra ability to keep pictures and music organized is nice, but not really needed, and it saves you money if you get XP Home or what ever.

Heh, thanks! This forum is awsome ~ findin lots of usefull info and plenty of topics to keep me entertained at work. I don't really need pro I suppose.. I've just used it for 4 years now and have attached myself to its nooks and crannies * and I have it incase I do anyhow *. So looks like MCE for me. Money isn't an issue aswell = GO big or go home IMO :] bwhaha. I could go for some more pics on the 9700... I'm getting impatient here :[

If you're getting Windows you minds well get XP Pro. Dont know about how well media center stacks up against the two already XP but if at anything you should never get the regular home edition windows.

.... so could I order the MCE.. just to get the tuner and remote.. then just instal my Normal XP pro? Or is it all programed into MCE and what not..

You can do that. Someone around here did that, then found seperate drivers for the internal tv tuner. AW only has the MCE drivers posted. They just installed Nero7 and the drivers were auto loaded in the process.

I've always used pro also, have several extra copies, but until I find a reason to switch I'm going to continue to use MCE. It's working fine.

Those are quite some benchmarks you got going on...pretty amazing laptop.

I posted this pic elsewhere, but here it is again...

It's pretty efficiently packed, but there's still enough room for good air flow.

I'll have more pics with the review...

Hey hammerhead now do you see how small the coaxial connection is? Lol.. It is tiny!

Have you used your tv-tuner yet?
