REFORMAT PROBLEM: Setup did not find any hard drives...

I didn't want to double-post this thread - it is found at http://www.notebookforums.com/forums/thread173185.html.

I just wanted to post a link here because I know I have a better chance of someone helping here than on that forum. I'd appreciate any advice/help anyone has to offer.

yes for some reason xp will not rec your drives because they are on a raid controller. In order for set up to see them you should use the USB floppy drive. I recieved mine from Sager when I purchased my 9860. You will have to boot from the windows disk and a message at the bottom comes up asking if you need to install any 3rd party drivers. ( you have to hit a key at this time ) then you can have it go to your external floppy. I have seen them for sale at Comp usa and Bestbuy ,but they are not as cheap as you would think for a technology as old as that. I had to actually buy new floppies as well and it made me feel really outdated for some reason. lol

Thanks Drowis. I'm replying now on my newly-installed WinXP. The reinstall worked, and yes I had to install the ATA drivers at the F6 prompt as you said. thanks.

G-Omaha lol I have some of those as well in my garage sitting with my collection of old personal computers and parts. It resets next to a timex sinclair, a Texas Instraments ti-99-4a, a Comadore 64 and my prized Amiga 2000 with my 68040 excellerator card running at 33 mhz woooo the speed!! is it bad that my MP3 player has about a hundred times the storeage of both HDs in that machine? 40 meg and a 120 meg drives
