Good options for E1505 are gone?!?!

Thread Starter
The other day I configured an E1505 Core 2 Duo 4mb machine with Geforce 7600 and 60gig 7200rpm drive. I went back tonight to order it and those options are no longer available. They were the perfect specs for what I need and now I cant get them.

Is Dell changing options and will they return?

they might be changing due to pricing changes, or even supply.

I have never seen the 7600 offered at the Dell site for the E1505, only the X1300 128Mb, X1400 256Mb, and the 7300 256Mb are all I have ever seen offered......

Specs: E1505 T2400 1.83 Dualcore
15.4 WSXGA+ Ulrasharp True Life
1Gig RAM DDR2( Soon To be 2Gig DDR2)
X1300(Soon to be replaced with X1400)
80Gig Hd
8XVDR+/-R Sony
9345 Wireless

I've configured a few 1405 and 1505 systems in the last few weeks for a family member and I don't recall either of these options on the 1505. I dont think Dell offers the 7600 on any system, the 7200rpm drives are available on some Dell systems however.

I have an E1505 with an Hitachi Travelstar 80GB, 7200 RPM drive. I bought it 3 weeks ago, before the introduction of Merom. So, yes, it was indeed possible. Perhaps they're simplifying the process for customers?

I need yet another E1505 but I need the 7200 RPM drive, so I'm
waiting for new drives to come up ...

ooh, geforce 7600, sign me up!

on that note.. new BIOS releases are usually a good indicator of new things to come on dell computers. the last update (A08 AFAIK) added merom support..

I think that this is correct. None of the BIOSes added support for the Geforce 7600, and I've never seen any Dell laptop using it before. Are you sure you weren't looking at the 7300 (or maybe the 7900GS in the E1705)?

I've got the same problem. I was all set to buy my laptop yesterday, but to my dismay, they took off the 7200rpm hard drives for some reason. Now i'm stuck waiting for them to bring them back. At this rate, i'll just end up waiting and saving up for a m1210 instead. Does anyone know if this is commonplace, or if they're gone for good..?

yea...if they put the 7600 in the 1505...i would sell mine, and buy another just for the card

I talked with customer service and they don't know if they will be back. I am contemplating either waiting or getting an 80GB 7200RPM drive from Hitachi and installing it myself. Here's a link another member sent me:

At that price for the Hitachi, you'll be saving some money, plus you'll have an extra 5200 rpm drive to keep around

I ended up buying one with a 60gb 5400rpm hard drive. Didn't feel like waiting. I'll just upgrade the hd and the ram down the road.

If you look at the m1210, you will see that they are not offering 7200 for them either.
