Lockups with networking

Ive been experiencing problems when changing networks or attempting to connect to one. So far, these have been the only times the lappy has totally frozen on me.
Issue 1) Guaranteed lockup when I swithc from wireless to wired network modes. I open my network connections, disable wireless (and the button above keyboard too), enable wired. The lan connection comes in fine. As soon as I open a program (I think any program that needs the network, but didnt test enough to try all kinds of programs), it locks up cold. After reboot it works fine on wired mode. Switching back to wireless doesnt seem to affect it, just going from wireless to wired.

Issue 2) Dialing in with the builtin modem. About 1 of 4-5 dialin attempts will result in a lockup. Happens at different times...either when first opening the port to connect, sometimes halfway into connecting, somtimes later.

Im rather confused why I would be having problems with something as simple as dialing up or switching networks. If anyone has any ideas, please let me know.

I have a question regarding my internal wireless card. I've configured everything okay, and have followed the procedures for the static noise issue when using wireless.

This is likely a very simple issue, but I'm experiencing MAJOR freezes every couple of seconds, causing my mouse navigation to be a nightmare. The mouse just jumps all over the place. What can I do to fix this or what am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance.

ok, for TerraFORM, first open the WLAN software, then select you profile, and select modify, over there enable the advance settings, there on the transmit power option select 50% or 25% and in scan mode select pasive, then just apply that, and try again, if the mouse issues persist turn off the power saving option over the WLAN software and also in the device manager...
for Hornet you may also try that...

Ok, I went home for the weekend and had to use dailup *shudder*....
The first time, it connected fine, I opened trillian which worked for a few seconds before the whole system locked. I rebooted and tried again, locked on dialup...**5 MORE TIMES**. I finally gave up and used my mothers desktop to get online.

Is anyone here on or has used dialup with the a51m? Anyone have ideas why its causing so many problems?

Hornet,

the only idea I have is maybe an installed personal firewall software, because I had nearly the same problems before I deactivated my McAfee firewall.

Nope, no firewalls. I just read the AW forums and found some others are having similar lockups when using the modem...so looks like a hardware or driver issue.

Yep. I only had dialup when I first got my 51m. I had the same problem. I updated to the latest version of the driver from www.smlink.com and it solved the problem.

Here is the direct link:
