Well I just recently got my Xps 1210 on a very surprised note I might add. I came home from school to find a purolator reciept sort of thing hanging from my front door. This surprised me because dells order status said it was still 'in production' and it was also estimated to arrive two days earlier. I was planning on calling that night to get my duo processor replaced with the duo 2. But now that I have it I wouldnt change it or give it back for anything. Its the bomb shiggity. Anyways this review is for the gamer who is sort of on a budget but wants a small and sleek portable gaming laptop which can also be used for schooling. My reason for getting this is exactly for those reasons.

Damn....this is a very sleek, stylish, SMALL laptop [about the size of a computer paper]. Dell had everything packed nicely and it came with everything I wanted. The little bag, as some people thought it was for the laptop but is actually too small and I used it to put all my software, extra earbuds and miscelaneous crap into. It now hangs above my pc's from a hat or coat hanger which is pretty sweet.

I did take numerous photos but none of them came out clear and I'm too lazy to take more. By request I can take photos of it with the built-in webcam [involving a mirror and some vaseline, I mean no, no vaseline]
Gaming
I'm a big fps guy [first person shooters specifically] and I chose to buy BF2 since I've heard so much about it and I had played it once but on a very slow desktop. Anyways, I installed it and downloaded the patch [1.4] from fileplanet and it downloaded quite quick even for ADSL [I am wired to wireless router. Don't ask]. The install went smooth as expected and I then booted the game up for the first time. Running the game on mostly low settings just because I like performance rather then detail. All I have to say is wow. It runs smooth. Smoother then...the fonz. I typed in the FPS console command, something on the lines of rendererfps_1 or something like that [I forget] and i was getting around 75/16 +/- [that is how it is shown] while running in big open fields on large maps and in firefights. While standing or viewing map I would receive 100+. I'm not sure as to how this FPS command works since I'm used to the old Rainbow Six type which shows your fps without that other number [ex: 75fps] Anyways what I'm saying is that this laptop is very capable of running BF2 easily. I would love to see the fps I can get playing Rainbow Six 3: Raven-Shield [RvS] a once popular first person shooter. The best ever made, I might add.
I will update this soon with screenshots of the FPS from BF2 and what ever other games I get.

Dell has always been a very reliable and trust worthy company from my experiences. My family has 4 Dell pc's [3 laptops and a desktop] Although not all in one household [1 laptop owned by brother living alone, 1 laptop owned by sister going to Uni and mine and household desktop] we have all gotten excellent service other then a few minor problems. On the other hand the XPS 1210 is very well built. The only problem or rather scare that I encountered was the T button on my keyboard came off. I managed to put it back on and it works as it did before, flawless. The keyboard has no flex from what I can tell but to be honest I have no clue what keyboard flex is. I assume keyboard flex is when you press on a button on one side and the other side flex's upwards, as if unbalanced. Anyways, that doesn't [just right now my T button came loose again
.....ttttttt ok fixed] happen to me. I am now lost as to what I should talk about next. LCD...yes lcd.
LCD screen
As you can see in my sig I upgraded to the A/V communication pack with the earbuds and built-in webcam blah blah blah. All very cool and quality of webcam and earbuds are stellar. The LCD screen is amazing. I don't exactly know what to look for but it is very reflective when its turned off [black screen] It could basicly become a mirror in my bathroom if it ever stopped working. I watched a movie [Monty Python's Quest for the Holy Grail, probably not the best choice, old picture and kornier then I remember but its widescreen so who cares] and the dvd or media direct software is very easy to use. The widescreen is great. I'd rather watch a movie on this then on the widescreen projection HD tv downstairs. By the way, does anyone know where to look for the screen model number? I want to make sure I got the good screen, just to double check.
I think that is it for my review. All I really had to say is that the XPS 1210 is too hot for most people to handle and potential buyers should refraim from buying them because they are a frisky little devil with an addiction with ankles and biting them.
