Sentia m3450 Issue

Was wondering if anyone else has gotten this issue before. Just got my m3450 yesterday and its dead already. I tried running Windows Update to update everything and when the computer restarted it turns on and just freezes when it tries to load Explorer now. It will show the startbar and such but the computer wont respond at all.

I really hate Microsoft -.-

Re: Sentia m3450 issue

Wiccaan,

I would do what is suggested by the following post:

http://www.notebookforums.com/post2377187-10.html

I received my m3450 yesterday and I've been running the machine non-stop for a day without experiencing what you're seeing. I put Windows Vista RC1 on it because of my work so it's possible that when I did this I avoided the issue you're having if it was due to a faulty OS install.

Let us know what happens. Good luck.

Yeah I had no luck getting it to work after that I got it to respond after closing just about every process running and restarting explorer.exe myself. I uninstalled all the updates and such and no luck.

I landed up reformatting and reinstalling. Working fine again now. Install went fast too (Still disappointed that I had to do this.)

Oh well, a warning to all who get this laptop or others that may have the issue, avoid using Windows Updater unless you are doing everything manually and selecting what to update.

Ok heres another new issue now lol.. I reinstalled using the Respawn CD. Works fine and all just one minor issue. If anyone has reinstalled would see it, Alienware has a dos script that updates a few things mainly vulnerabilities. One of them being in the HTML host. Well that host is used for Account things, such as changing your username and so on.

Anytime I try to change my user name it crashes. Couldnt find anything on the Microsoft site, and searched google for fixes and crap and came up with nothing. So right now my Username is stuck as Owner (yes, I dont want it as that.)

Any idea's?

Call them. Sounds like your image might be screwed up (with the user name stuff). You might try reloading again straight up from the XP CD (i know you don't want to, but you might have to; i just can't say. Call them, they might know how to fix that small issue before you do a complete reload again).
