7700 + Windows Vista RC1 - Page 2

Didn't get a chance to install Doom 3 today. Was too busy installing iTunes 7 on Vista instead. The newer interface is nice, and some of the features they're touting are pretty impressive, especially album art lookup, which is something I've been adding to windows media for a LONG time now. The gapless playback is a nice feature too.

For the time being though I'm sticking with Media Player 11 and Winamp.

Yo Pepsi,
Seeing as how you're so keen on the results, I was wondering if there was any thing you want me to try out for you?

Yes, Yes, Yes!!!

I don't expect you to have these programs on hand, but if you have something similar, I guess it will do
1. Photoshop
2. Illustrator
3. Dreamweaver
4. Azerus (can't spell it)
5. mIRC
6. Any antivirus apps, especially AVG and/or Kaspersky
7. Let us know about some more games

Thanks

I've been playing a little Oblivion on my vista install. Works 'good enough'. Good enough as in, my 6800go isn't enough umph to really play the game, but it's more than enjoyable.

Any other apps or games?

Visual Studio .Net 2005, Office 2007, Gaim, xchat, Innova Disc Golf, Firefox...

That's about all I run. My vista environment is really only for testing the portability of some of the projects I'm working on. That and oblivion. OldBlivion under Cedega just doesn't cut it......

Yo pepsi............it just so happens I have every program on your list. I'll work on them over the weekend and get back to you.
In the meantime check out this screenshot. Look at the message in the bottom right hand corner. One of Vista's unspoken treasure features.......... ;-D
I was pleasantly surprised.

Hey all,

I was also accepted into the Windows Vista Customer Preview program; however, I never successfully loaded Vista (because of my Raid setup complications). Your Thread inspired me to try once again. I used the PartitionMagic program to create a new partition at the end of my C: drive (25GB). The raid drivers load fine during installation. However, I get an error message that states the new partition does not meet the disk requirements for Windows Vista. How did you get Windows Vista to accept your partition?

My Partition Details:
2x (60GB Hdd) = 120GB Raid 0
C: (Windows XP) ~90GB - beginging of drive
V: (Windows Vista) ~25GB - end of drive
*Both NTFS*

I always use O/S Level software raid when I need raid and True hardware raid isn't available. These 'pseudo' raid cards that offload all the raid work into the driver are more hastle than they're worth. I installed vista on a 40gig partition beginning at the front of the drive.

Might be simple requirement from M$ ... 40 GB of hard drive capacity with 15 GB free space.

the version of partitionmagic I have doesn't support strip sets, aka RAID0 right?

I don't know what version you're using, but version 8 supports RAID striping.

It's in the notes...8.05, but anyway, I got my hard drive and I'm getting a jumper in about an hour, then I'll set it up and such, my only question is do I need to format my hard drive before I do it or will the RAID setup do it for me? Also, can I just use my CD drive, because I don't want to go get my floppy drive.

Anybody have any details on the Realtek Audio Driver being compatible with Vista? The software seems to install, but Windows dosen't seem to find the hardware...

To answer cHRoNiCauST's question, as far as RAID/ATA drivers, I believe Windows Vista will allow you to install from a CD (unlike Windows XP), but I installed from a Floppy anyway.
