7700 + Windows Vista RC1 - Page 3

Ok, I'm 100% up and running and my vista download is at 30%. The restore disk that AW provides DOES let you make multiple partitions, but you have to format the second, third, and so on through windows.

OK here's what I've got around to....
Photoshop CS2 installed and working fine, although there's a slight graphical glitch in that the splash sceen is no longer transparent and shows a white frame where the transparent area used to be.
Azureus works fine.

I've had AVG up and running on the system since I installed Vista with no problems (that I know of........)

My HD audio driver is the vista beta driver from the Realtek site, and I've had no problems with it since I installed it.

Not sure if I'll get around to installing Illustrator or Dreamweaver. My 20 GB partition is now down to 2GB!

Thanks for all the help. It seems I might be installing my beta version of Vista as soon as my lappie lands.

No matter what I do, I can't seem to install the Realtek drivers. I was thinking about installing another copy of vista on another partition and start from scratch.

Heavy, if you could let me know the order in which you installed drivers immediatly after installing vista, that might help me.

Adobe Illustrator works fine. Had a little trouble registering, but that was fixed by running the program with Administrator privlages.

Reinstalling Vista didn't work. Still the the ~50 "unknown" realtek devices. If you could share any infirmation (in details if possible) on the order that you installed your drivers and which Realtek driver you installed.

I believe he mentioned vista beta drivers, are those what you're using?

Yes, he did mention beta drivers. I am using the Realtek 880D Vista beta drivers from Realtek's site. Let me know if I'm using the wrong drivers.

After you finish downloading Vista, let me know if you manage to get the drivers working.

I don't make stupid mistakes.... I do, however, perform experiments from time to time where I attempt to perform those actions that a person of lower than average intelligence would do.

I have it and my download(*Cough*Torrent*Cough*) works, but I need a keycode, any clue where to get one of those? Also is there a way to find out what version it is? All I know is that it is RC1 build 5600.

For the key you have to sign up (I used my hotmail login) at windows live and they have you fill out a form. After you submit the form you will get your own key in email that can be used on 10 computers.

Anyone on RC1 Build 5600 get sound working? I'm on RC1 Build 5536 and sound works fine (using the vista driver). I'm kinda curious if something didn't change in between there that broke the driver.
On the m9700 the sound works fine for me. I dont remember what I did, but one second it didnt work then restart and it did.

Oh. I remember now. I used the audio of the nforce audio they had in there. I had to manually upload it.

I meant specifically with the realtek audio in the area51-m7700s

I know that there are realtek drivers for ac'97. I dont know if that is what you have, but if you do have that then you might want to look for it. Everyone seemed to go crazy for when they released the drivers for vista

For those of you who have tried games on Vista, how's the performance compared to XP??
Performance for games is the same, if not better on Vista (depending on game). But I'm not playing much because I'm trying to get my sound working >_<

As far as the 7700, I believe we use the Realtek 880D.

I am currently downloading Vista build 5536 98%. I'll let u know in about 2 hours if the build update is what is causing the problems. *Crossing Fingers*
