Just out of curiosity, what carrier are you with? I am with Cingular, and I waited for about 3 weeks after my contract expired and wound up getting a phone that went for $99 after rebate w/ 2 yr contract for free (actually 2 of them, with 2 $40 bill credits) at the time. It was ironic, because I got the mailer the very night I was headed out to buy a new phone. If you are going to go that route, you may want to wait just a tick longer, or call and talk to customer retention and see if they can't offer you an even better deal.

my plan was to go with cingular. we need a family plan and seeing as we dont talk on them a whole lot we are getting the 59.99 mo plan we are now with suncom. witch has been a hassle for us as it doesnt get good service where we vacation. I dont think we will be returning to them

If you're going to be a new subscriber check with wirefly, amazon, etc before just getting the device straight from Cingular. There are several places out there you can get a V551 for free AR as a new customer.

hmm might do that know if they do any deals similar to the with a razr?
Yeah. I went and quickly scanned wirefly before posting just to make sure I remembered right. They are currently giving away razrs ($49.99 -$50 rebate) on a Cingular new subscriber 2 year contract. Best Buy and Amazon may be worth checking also. They both usually have deals cheaper than direct from Cingular.

FWIW, a lot of the reason they can do this is the "commission" they get from Cingularfor siging up new subscribers. It used to be $150 per subscriber, but I am not sure what is is now. They are passing some of that along to the end user to attract business.

thank thunder you saved me 70 some for a razr and now my family has a bigger selection for a new phone

i appreciate the help very much

Just an advice. If buying from wirefly or any inphonic reseller keep your fingers crossed on the rebates. Their rebates hardly come back. Just google "inphonic rebate". I personally prefer amazon.
