I would go to radio shack (or any store that sells audio) and get a headphone extension that is easier to reach and do the switch between Headphones and speakers.
You can try it, but I dont think your speakes will work if you switch to analog in the device, and I believe that is the only way to get it to work without a jumper. You can connect the analog-out on the cd to the analog-in on the soundcard with the jumper. This is fairly simple on a desktop, but I'm guessing it's a major pain in the butt for a laptop. Even if you do this I think you will get sound out of both.
One other thing I just thought of, most speakers sold now adays (all of the ones that I've seen) have a speaker jack on one of the speakers. Look closely at you speakers and see if it has one. If it doesn't, and they're cheaper speakers, you can buy a set that does
